Fixed! :)
Potentate = NOUN
a monarch or ruler, especially an autocratic one.

For anyone who is curious but doesn't feel like looking up the word. XD
Architect? I haven't tried it, I'm just throwing it out there as a possibility.

The Sphinx's first clue is: Embark on a quest in a world found behind the potentate of ground round

I don't know why but when I hear "a world found behind the potentate of ground round" I think of a flat earth and some of the many fiction settings that's used in.
Reading through the TV Trope about it HERE at the moment!

EDIT TO ADD:

THANK YOU TOO!
In reference to: "Embark on a quest in a world found behind the potentate of ground round."

I feel like the word "round" may invalidate the flat earth theory just a bit, but with "potentate," chances are that by finding different ways to word this, something may become clearer. I have a feeling I probably won't know the franchise, though, haha.

"Behind the potentate of ground round" makes me think of a statue though. Like, a secret world hidden behind a statue of some famous ruler of "ground round," which may mean Earth, unless there's some world where they use that terminology...

Oh yeah! Also, the symbol for this is a raven (or a crow), so I'm sure that'll also factor in somehow. Anyone know any franchises pretty dependant on a raven/crow for symbolism?

For real life I ABSOLUTELY agree, but in fiction it is usually depicted as a round disc (ala Discworld, several mythologies, etc) similar to the pic featured on the Flat World TV Trope page previously linked.

Thinking on this one now too:

But on this special quest, a name occupational; a name for planning

To second Abigail_Austin and after peeking at thesaurus.com the words that come up for "planner" are:
Administrator, Architect, Executive, and Creator

'Ground round' makes me think of ground meat, actually.

I'm not sure if this is exactly helpful, but in Norse mythology Odin has two ravens that basically spy for him (Huginn and Muninn). Possibly this could have something to do with Yggdrasil?

Other than that, I've heard crows/ravens feature prominently in Game of Thrones. Apparently someone dreams about a three-eyed crow? Can't confirm as I don't watch the show and haven't read the books. There's a giant wall of ice, I know that much, and there's a whole other nation behind it that is (as far as I know) unexplored to the people of Westeros. It might be stretch, but round doesn't necessarily have to mean in shape/texture:
  • used to show that a figure has been completely and exactly reached
  • rich and mellow; not harsh (used to describe voices, but just as well could describe landscape/weather)
  • considerable
Potentate of ground round? Burger King?

All I got when Google searching that term was in fact ground meat XD
So first of all, I don't think what I'm saying is right at all but I'm just trying to get more on the board here... Hopefully this helps???

The first clue makes me think it has to do with farmers or cows (king of ground beef) i doubt it would have anything to do with Burger King or McDonalds... but Ol' McDonald did have a farm. Man, this is going well so far...

I'm not sure if the second clue is referring to the first clue? "Our" as in the king (potentate), the cows, or the Sphinx telling the riddle. But what could a cow's secret weapon be? Methane? lol but seriously it could also be the farmer's secret weapon or maybe those things they use to put down cattle. But this is starting to sound a bit gruesome so I'll just move on to the third riddle...

And all I have to say about the third riddle is GLOBAL WARMING or... Something to do with the cows farting. I swear this sounded better in my head. Just gonna go now, sorry... >.<
It does say "fantasy" as the category, so I have a feeling the answer probably won't have to do with Old McDonald or McDonald's. It would be pretty funny, though!
oh yeah you're right... oops
well if that wasn't clear for other people, it is now! xD
my bad
This makes me think of Riddle of the Sphinx: An Egyptian Adventure. The game included authentic translations and the style and grammar used by the royal scribes and the team of designers did extensive research into the history and culture of Egypt.
Also wondering if the potentate of ground round could be Eratosthenes, described as Pentathlos which can be translated as "All-Rounder". Also because he calculated the Earth's circumference.
Could the second part be saying that the secret weapon makes the people using it secret and powerful? Like invisibility or like their group is secret and powerful... Kinda makes me think of the Death Star but I don't think Earth was in Star Wars O-o (if ground round is referring to Earth..)

My point is that the second part isn't saying the secret weapon is secret and powerful but it makes people USING it secret and powerful. Until the third part... Which is why I think maybe the quest is some sort of space rebellion type thing! Or idk something from Game of Thrones. :s

I feel like the crow/raven for this challenge could be a clue. Also, "Salutations" everyone! :3

(I really have no clue but I'm just sharing my thoughts... Salutations is probably just a clever name for the symbol challenge and probably isn't what Darth Vader would say if that was the answer)

xD
The secret weapon clue makes me think of the secret name of Ra, which Isis found out.
I have a feeling the Sphinx is a big clue. You must be on to something!
