Hey everyone,

I just joined and am interested in getting to know some about this website. I've been RPing for over 15 years (YIKES), and have quite a collection of characters I will need to get up.

Since I don't really know how RP works here, or how you would go about "getting in" with a certain community, anyone have any advive?

I really recommend checking out the Looking For RP boards, and I definitely recommend hitting up the OOC Chat as a place to get to know some of your fellow roleplayers!

There's a few ways on RPR. Lots of people just use RPR to coordinate characters/contact on and RP in communities outside of RPR (like Furc or Discord), so you can keep an eye out for those sorts of groups if that interests you. Otherwise there are groups that RP on the site--the Featured Groups is a good place to start (this is a mix of on-RPR and off-RPR groups, though); check that they're active, though. There's also just lots of 1v1 RPs, so depending on what you want you can check out the Looking For forum; hit up someone with a plot that interests you or throw down your own idea and see who bites.

I know some people also just Cold-PM characters and players that interest them (usually by browsing Characters to see who's active--the list is ordered by those who have most recently updated their character), but as far as I understand most don't get too lucky with this (as someone who RPs mostly in groups myself, I sort of... awkwardly skirt away from people's Cold-PMs).

My only advice is being honest and keeping up communication with partners in ooc.

Try not to do more than you can handle and not take everything personally.
