I was a 90s kid. Much as I enjoy music from earlier eras, stuff I heard growing up definitely brings some nostalgia. I remember going to a Harry Potter Winter Ball a couple years ago, and being kinda disappointed with the nerd rap all night, but getting super excited when they started pumping out 90s hits near the end (even though I wasn't super into much 90s music when it was popular).
What brought it up just now: I'm sitting at a food place before work, and they get a pretty eclectic mix of recognizable songs through the age. As I sat down, Who Let the Dogs Out came up - the song always played at the end of school dances when I was in 6th grade, before I learned to be overly self-concious about dancing.
Made me chuckle.

Salt 'n Peppa. We made up silly words to one of their songs once. Just ridiculous words that made no sense at all but that in 5th grade threw us into endless fits of uncontrollable laughter. It was wonderful.
Watching old Disney shows really makes me feel nostalgic.

There's this one song called "Aint no party" by Dj Kicken that has very inappropriate lyrics for a child.
When I was about 7 years old, this song was very popular and I knew all the words by heart even though I didn't understand what they mean (I'm not a native English speaker). I used to sing that song all the time and it got me some strange looks from people as well as a displeased mother but she never quite managed to explain why I shouldn't be singing it. I remember that since I was figure skating back then, I wanted to use the song as my song for one of our group's shows and she veto'd it. Every time I hear it now in nostalgia remixes, it makes me chuckle.

Bruno Mars "when I was your man". When I bartended one of my regulars said this was our song. He tried dating me for a full year. Every night he came in he played it over and over all freaking night. We eventually became freinds but never dated. Every time I hear this song I smile.
Lose Control by Missy Elliot. So, contrary to popular belief, I used to be a cheerleader. We went to a huge jamboree type event with a lot of different teams around the state. We were able to work with choreographers and different coaches, and that one was one of my favorite routines.

I'm scared to play it at my wedding because both me and my dad will be bawling. However, it's adorable, sweet, and keeps me and my dad close even when we're so far away.

Seeing anything from the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comics, or hearing a line or two of theirs in some contemporary show. It brings a smile to my face every time. And Fat Freddy's Cat.... Luv 'em!
They remind me of days when I was a senior in high school and was sitting in my room with the black light and twinkle christmas lights on after smoking some Colombian. I was reading Freak Brothers and listening to Barnstorm as I turned to stone... it's all good!

Oh gosh...I'm not even that old, but I still get these little 'I am an adult, what on earth?!' moments.
VHS tapes. I was born in that weird little grey age where the 90's hadn't ended (I'm a 2000 baby), and we were slowly merging into a different time period. Our VHS tapes were one of those remnants. I had The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Pollyana...so many things. I can still remember rewinding those things myself and getting a ring of lines around my fingers because it took forever. In all honesty, I thought nothing of them until my younger sister asked what they were while we were in Disney World and I had found one - she'd never seen them before.
The Macerena or however the heck you spell that blasted dance. >.< It was my absolute favorite to dance to.
Transformers. I grew up watching the old cartoons my mom did when she was young (I think I still have them on disk somewhere!) and I just adored them. So now, seeing the toys or even the major movies, just brings back such fond memories of when I told my mom I was going to grow up to be Optimus Prime!
