Hello whoever reads this I'm new to role playing and was looking for some tips or just general help. Any words of wisdom anyone chould share?
Hey Nobody!

Welcome to the hobby and to the RP Repository! :)

Check out this helpful page for some tips: New to Role Play

Also check out the Looking for RP sub-forum to find some folks looking for RP partners and/or group role plays.
Hi there! Welcome to RPR and to the world of forum roleplaying!

A few personal tips of mine:

- Find folks who are new like you, or slightly more used to how things work. If you can, finding somebody super experienced can be great, too! You can learn with them or have them show you the ropes over the course of telling a story to get you more comfortable!

- Put yourself out there. You won't find a partner if you don't look! If you don't see anything that piques your interest, don't hesitate to post your own thread with your great ideas :)

- Have fun! Seriously, it's what this is all about!

Enjoy your stay! See you around! o/

Welcome! I would recommend going to the help tab there is loads of stuff on their for new RPers and RPR users in general. If you can’t find what you’re looking for: post in the help forum!
Tips? Others have given great advice, but I think I can give at least one good bit of information.

•Roleplay is collaborative storytelling told through more than one person! If you love writing or immersing yourself into a realm of imagination with others, then I think you'll like it.

•It's okay to be shy. I know I was! If you don't feel comfortable, take the time to lurk and get a feel for how roleplaying and the community works here. But we're all friendly, and would like to get to know you!

•Keep asking questions, especially around here! The Help Forum and Index are your two best friends if you're lost.

•It's fine to mess up, as long as you learn from it and ask your partners on how you can improve. Good communication is one of the key things that makes roleplaying a fun experience.

I hope that helps!

Welcome to RPR! I'm super glad you've joined us here!

I really recommend checking out the Looking For RP boards, and I definitely recommend hitting up the OOC Chat as a place to get to know some of your fellow roleplayers!

Thank you SO MUCH for coming to us and helping us make our community great!
Hello! And welcome to RPR! One of the most friendly and understanding websites I’ve ever seen! 🥰

Nice to see new people joining this lovely community! More people to chat. RP and just get to know! You might meet friends that live miles away from you and I think that’s pretty cool!

Been RPing for years and I would never change that! And this is one of the best of the best. :)

Some couple helpful pieces of information!

One, Characters. I recommend you put enough detail into things so every one who wants to RP with you is satisfied by the amount of information!

Two, rules. I recommend you make rules for yourself and partners. You don’t have to be rude about them but it’s a good idea to put your foot down and say what you will do and what you won’t do, or what you like and how you want your partner to treat you! This should be fun for both of ya!

Three, don’t be nervous to talk to people!! You may miss out on that RP you really wanted to do, or that person you wanted to chat with!! Don’t do that to yourself, everyone I’ve met is so kind and sweet that I felt dumb for being nervous!

And four, be kind. I know I praise this place like my god but there can be some nasty people on here... and when that happens, it ruins everyone’s fun. We all can’t see eye to eye but it doesn’t mean we can’t try now right? Be kind and treat people with respect, you never know what they may be going through.

Phew! I hope those little timbits of information help in anyway! I hope you feel welcome at RPR and.. have fun!

Hi!! I don't got any tips but everyone else seems to have you covered /wheeze
I hope you have fun here!! Welcome!
Hiya Nobody, Welcome to RPR!

Hmm, tips tips tipss....
Oh, never be worried to ask your rp partner what they would like to see.
So if they are all "I am concerned due to the lack of Unicorns." perhaps that would be a good way to work together and add three more to your RP.

Haha.

Jokes aside, communication! That's the best way to learn!
Hello!

Welcome to RPR! I’m happy you found this wonderful site. If you’re ready to roleplay then I’d suggest going to “looking for RP” or “Find RP”. There you will find the exact roleplay that you please. If you need any more help I’ll be willing to help you out. :D

Hello and welcome to RPRepository. Be yourself have fun and create characters you want to roleplay. You'll meet plenty of freinds and roleplayers on this website in no time.
Welcome to RPR. I wasn't reading other peoples comments this time around
So I guess the only tip I think I could give is using past experiences.

When I first started out (far far away in a distant time) I had to learn that people are not their characters.
It took me a few months to understand. The person was treating my character like crap and I got so annoyed with them.
because it felt like they were hurting me indirectly. The person himself had nothing against me personally and it took a while to see that. So now I'm all grown up~

So yea. Let your character be your character. Let their character be their character and your partner be your friend.
Everyone has given such great and detailed tips already.

My tip is that the Looking For Roleplay thread is a really good resource.

You can answer people's ads or make your own ad. If you make your own, make the title specific, so it shows what kind of roleplay you want.

I've found that people are generally really friendly so I wouldn't be hesitant at all to PM someone if you like their profile and/or characters and suggest a roleplay.

Sometimes a person puts on their profile that they are or are not accepting new roleplays at the time, so I recommend looking at their profile.

And some people enjoy just chatting too.

When you suggest a roleplay, it's good to have an idea to suggest (like "Would you be interested in doing a fantasy RP with my character so-and-so? I was thinking about a storyline where x, y, z happens).

So I guess my main tip is to "be specific."

Also, pictures for your profile or characters make them look more tempting!

Good luck and enjoy!
Hey!

A very important thing is to have to rules, like how many sentences or paragraphs you want one to do, or what you're basically comfortable with
