So one of my coworkers is this sweet little old grandma of a woman (I don't recall if she actually has grandkids or kids, but still), and I see her most days I work because she usually works the shift right after mine. I managed to earn her trust pretty early on while I was training her probably a couple months ago now after I found the courage to pull her aside and work out a miscommunication we'd had, so for any work issue that doesn't require a supervisor (and also them sometimes while she's assessing), she usually comes to me first or to clear things up, etc. There's a convenient few minutes for us to discuss things anyway, and she's one of the ones who really cares about doing her job well.

Cool. All of this gives me enough warm fuzzies to help me bury the imposter syndrome that also keeps cropping up from having an elder asking me for advice and stuff a lot. She's also not the only one at work who thinks pretty highly of me, but she is the only one who seems to really count on me, and I try to live up to expectations.

But a comment she made tonight takes the cake, I think. She told me that when something happens (extra mess, weird schedule, another coworker being a nasty little [insert irritated mumbling], whatever), she asks herself what I would do and uses that to calm herself down and refocus. I am someone's self-soothing technique.

And I admitted it's a lot harder to do the right thing than to recommend the right thing to others. ^^; Mentioned that mom-friend anxiety override too, where you can only do a thing if it's for someone else who is also uncomfortable doing the thing.

I just wanted to, well, brag a bit I guess. You're welcome to share similar experiences from any side, though!
Yay!! 💗💗 Right on.
