Hiya, I'm Eclipse. I havent had too much going on RP wise lately so wanted to start another RP in my fantasy setting.
The setting is rather flexible- while it has a set number of races and places and stuff that are "canon" to it, I deliberately left room in it to incorporate other things if you have a race you really want to use, for instance. The setting is called Heartlands (hence the topic title...) and is centered on the continent called Auria, where the majority of the population is around the fringes of the continent and the interior (i.e. the "heartlands") is a magically volatile, largely unexplored land.
The countries around the fringes have largely become mundane over the past millenia, with only the southern kingdoms of the Sylvans and Dwarrow retaining a significant number of magic users. However, echoing out from an unseen place deep in the core of the continent, ancient forces awaken, sending ripples of power and strength through the land. Slowly, long-dormant magical powers begin to stir, while new ones awaken, throwing the long-stagnant balances of power into chaos.

So thats basically the setting pitch. Theres waaay more details about it, way more than I could go over here, so I'll leave it at that for now. It has alot of regular high fantasy stuff, including elemental magic (with a few setting-specific details), dragons, etc. but all the sapient races are at least partially original (although one is basically just wood elves.)
Having said all of that: some details about how I RP (you can see more on my profile but I'll go over some of it here.) The most commonly recurring problem I have is post length. I dont exactly do multi-para or one paragraph so much as everything in between. I've been known to write up to 20 paragraphs in starters or reference material, but particularly during dialogue I often struggle to write more than one cause I just run out of things for my character to be doing.
I like to start off with characters being relatively weak and getting stronger over time. Particularly, I dont like magic being something characters start off with (and especially not born with), but I like them getting it over time through exposure to the supernatural.
And the last thing is: If this somehow ever gets enough attention, I would like to have a small group RP sometime. Probably not as a first one, but maybe if theres enough people all the different plot threads could be brought together somehow.

Magic is fairly common. Players and NPCs important to the tale may have it. Mistborn.
Renaissance
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
Details: Freeform, adjustable length posts, long-term RP partner preferred.
(Is it ok if I join? I have no idea how this works, don't mind the long name and bad writing for my oc, you just call him shadow and thas it. I'll follow any additional rules you may have and try, for the most part to stay in character, unless I want to ask a question or am confused.)

i am quite new to this site, though i have a good amount of experience in D&D and other tabletop rpgs focused mainly on RP.
so pure character development sounds interesting to me.
