Yo, I'm Pulsate! I'm a generally friendly guy with a hope to get some of my writing up to scratch and expand my vocabulary.
I suppose I should start with the trivial stuff. I've no career, right now, still being a secondary year student, but I hope to pursue something in multimedia as it's one of the few things I can do with a smile on my face. Right now, I'm living in a typical house of four, with one of each kind of family member. Along with that we've got a few pets, a guinea pig, rabbit and a dog.
Now, onto the stuff you're probably interested in. In terms of genre limits, I don't really have any, with the exception of the typical western styles of horror (the ones characterised by cheap jump-scares). I typically enjoy a good bit of brawling and some romance, but in a general sense, I have a real soft spot for interesting character dynamics.

Hi there Pulsate, welcome to RPR! As you will no doubt see very soon, the community is fun, friendly, welcoming and helpful! If you haven't yet, we recommend browsing the tutorial, it's got a ton of helpful tips and guides for all sorts of different RP-related subjects, from making characters to looking for RP partners--even experienced roleplayers may find things they hadn't thought of, I know I sure did. And if you're still not sure about something on the site after checking out the tutorial, feel free to ask questions of the mods and anyone else who offers to help.
If you're hankering for some specific kind of RP, we have an awesome Find RP tool that has a bunch of neat filters and stuff you can use to look for particulars. If you just wanna browse, you can go straight to the Looking For RP forum and see if anything there catches your eye, or even post ideas of your own!
Or if you just wanna chat for a bit as you decide what kind of characters you want to make, we have a place for Smalltalk too!
And above all...hope you have fun and stick around a while to make a bunch of RP friends! These people being friendly sure helped me decide to stay, too, when I was new!
Let me also add, you definitely came to the right place--several RP friends I have made tell me that RP is a great way to improve your vocabulary and understanding of a language--along with your school career, of course. I hope you get the career you are looking for.

On the subject of your RP preferences, do you generally prefer more realistic settings, fantasy or sci fi, or are you fairly evenly a fan of all of the above?

Well, I'd say I have even preferences for most, but I'm not really fond of more sci fi stuff.

Well, in my opinion, interesting dynamics are really just the basic rules of opposites attract, and making said opposites have amusing interactions based mostly, if not entirely, on that fact. Of course, the dynamic would probably have to be one that helps the both characters to grow in unique ways that are special to that relation and that relation alone.
Or I could be full of crap, hey, your choice.
