Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! If you stumbled upon this, that's great, how are you, how's your day been? Nice to meet you, the names Nav, Kat, or Abbey, whichever you prefer. Moral of the story, I have bipolar, which means I can be really, really depressed, or really, really happy, with mixed emotions in between that switch out at random... a lot. So hi, nice to meet you. Right now, I'm really, really, reallyreally... reallyreallyreally... Happy. And, that's unusual. And I don't know what to do, because there are too many things to do. So... I wanted to come to make some small talk with some strangers because of that sounds fun, and that is... It's...

It's something, okay?

So hiya, how you doin'?
Hiya Nav.

Whatcha wanna converse about?

Hope you found something to occupy your time with. Looks like you did, so yay! Take care.

Hey Kat! I'm actually bipolar as well, though I'm currently at the other end of the spectrum. I find when I'm manic and can't sleep that puzzle games on my phone really help. They engage my brain enough to have me hyperfocus on something nondestructive, and I can play them in bed until I fall asleep. I'm a big fan of Candy Crush and Flow Free. :)

I hope you eventually got some good rest!

Yo! Thanks for responding, I appreciate it! I eventually fell asleep once I calmed down a little... and by that I mean I passed out. XD

Yeahhhh, I used to play those types of games, but my patience is horrible and it's hard to focus on any one thing since I also have ADHD(both types), which really makes me all the more hyper and unfocused during mania. I do think that games like that can be of some really good help for people who have a better attention span, though! :3

For me, it's puzzle games, or I'm up all night doing art. I get super obsessive when I'm manic and will stay up all night in bed mentally mapping out digital paintings if I can't occupy myself somehow.

I would definitely let your med provider know you're having trouble, though! I have PRN medications that I only take when manic that help tremendously. I am also suspected to have ADHD, but since those meds make people manic...I make do without!

Does listening to music help you? I find sometimes having the background noise helps me to be able to be calmer and focus on other things. I pop on Pandora or Spotify and just leave it on all day with headphones on.

Yeah, I'm an art person, too, which is what I usually do when mania hits. This time I just had too much on my mind, like art, sculpting, cuddling, my boyfriend. There was just all around a lot, and it's even continued into this morning.

It's funny, though. I was diagnosed with bipolar, but I was never given medication for it. With ADHD they tried to put me on a whole bunch of meds, but never with bipolar. So really, it's kind of out of control at this point.

I do listen to music, though, a lot, actually. I can't go a day without listening to music, it's helps a lot.

Hey you! I have bipolar type 2! So I isn't really experience full-blown mania but hypermania is the pits, too.

It's odd to me that they wouldn't medicate you for bipolar disorder. Not only do I have it myself, but I used to work in behavioral health and most of my psychiatrist coworkers were pretty good about listening to the client and fulfilling their needs, medication-wise. If it truly bothers you, I would inquire about being put on a mood stabilizer. Also, caffeine - coffee, energy drinks, etc. - have been known to trigger mania. And for the love of Pete DON'T let anybody put you on an SSRI (selective setatonin reuptake inhibitor, like Zoloft). SSRIs are commonly prescribed for depression/anxiety, and for some reason people still give them to bipolar folks. They trigger mania, too.
