You are a neural scan drifting through space on a neuro-bank. Life is paradise within the simulation. From golden and pearly beaches with perfect weather, to virtual reality allowing you play mods and other arcade-based simulations, such as the invasion of normandy. Endless entertainment to engorge oneself in, to even "eating" different kinds of foods at the cafeteria without gaining a single pound. Appearance customization, personal servants, life couldn't get better. And then it all went upside down...

The Simulation is glitched and corrupt. Nobody knows exactly why it happened, or how. Some say the glitchers finally screwed something up, while others debate the origin of the catastrophe. The security and regulation AI once overseeing the paradise, is stuck in a loop of constant updates. All of the sim experiences dangerous data leaks, and glitched surroundings. Stray too close, and the integrity of your neural scan could suffer. And then there's the Exploiters. Essentially data vampires which exploit and utilize the current unstable glitchiness for their own reasons, at the detriment of their surroundings and possibly others. Able to absorb the data out of objects and even neural scans to repair and manipulate the integrity of their own.

And then there's rumors of hidden alien outsiders, seeking to override the last security measures to allow The Benefactors free reign over the sim. Some say they want to take the neural scans out and put them into robot bodies so they "can live again." Others claim they're planning on treating it as a testing ground to the detriment of its inhabitants. Furthermore, there's the dastardly Manipulators. Exploiters trying to breach into the source code to become gods of the sim, and make it a corrupted, but even more free sandbox. Dark days are ahead, and you are stuck right in the middle...

LIGHTNING ROUND!:
Welcome to the second installment of LIGHTNING ROUND, the RP design that is meant to be quick to take part in and be easy to respond to. Now you might be asking, what's different about these RPs compared to others? Well, that's all listed below! Take a look:

- Post Length Limits: This is somewhat adaptive based on the situation. In essence, this RP has a post length limit of three college level (five to seven sentences.) paragraphs. Both the players and the GM/DM (me) will be expected to obey this rule. (on special occasions, the DM may break this if they think it is in the best interest of their players.)

- Grammar and Post Minimum Leniency: This RP has a post minimum of two sentences. If the players feel that they cannot contribute to the current situation in the RP, they may ask to be skipped if they do not want to or cannot write anything. Also to keep things moving along, commas (') may be ignored entirely.

- THE FIRE MUST BURN!: You know what kills RPs? Posts slowing down to a crawl and everyone losing interest mainly. In order to combat this, the players (and DM.) must be able to post at least once per day. (if not more so.) Of course, this is purely expected, but not enforced. It's okay to have a few off days every now and then. But keep this in the back of your mind always. The longer you wait, the more likely someone won't be into it anymore.

- Assumption Is Truth: Three paragraphs may not be enough to fully convey different settings or scenes, so feel free to world build and add stuff to the terrain which makes sense to be there. Make sure it's within reason however! We don't want a Scan pulling a railgun out of a berry bush! Think like small and inert stuffs like bushes, sticks, crates, lockers, chairs, etc.

Well, if you think you're up for this, and ye can manage the rules rather well, here's the requirements, extra info, and extended details for the RP below:

CHARACTERS:
As said before, you are a neural scan of a previous (or still living. who knows.) person. You can either be human or an alien with exceptions. You ARE NOT to post your characters here. You are to simply state if you are interested, and then pm me with the character you'd like to play. If you do so anyways, it will be ignored with few exceptions.

Sub-Types:
Your characters can either be average joes trying to survive or get to The Vault, or Exploiters. Gifted with acquired and glitchy powers over the corruption, data leaks, and the sim itself, at the cost of your own neural integrity and the sim's...

Your character may be an Exploiter, with all the connotations and bad rep that comes with it. You may exploit the very essence of the sim to manipulate it in various ways, most out of your control (for now of course, if you're aligned with the Manipulators...) in exchange for your neural integrity. However, you may regain integrity by absorbing the data of various entities and objects. Including other scans...

SETTING:
You are in the simulation while it is undergoing the far worse part of the catastrophe. Your neural scan previously got completely corrupted due to too many close calls with rogue glitches or data leaks or some other hazards. But somehow you find yourself outside of utter destruction. You walk once again, finding yourself at one of the many security pylons scattered around the sim. And something is displaying on the monitor...

It doesn't matter how you died. But what matters now is surviving the catastrophe. Or... finding a way to end it.

AGENDAS:
There are three major factions within the simulation trying to find a way to gain access to The Vault. A digital access point for manual modification, editing, and system configuration able to be accessed by Scans with they right encrypted data. Should something like this happen, this is exactly what it should be used for. The Vault allows access to all of the neural scans, and the many back-up versions of the Simulation in case it needs to be restored. Of course... such power may also be used for more shady or nefarious purposes should you gain access to said data...

Your character may be aligned with a certain faction of their choosing if they want to. Doing so allows various benefits, maluses, and ultimately a different end goal and vision for the Sim... You must state wether or not you want to be aligned with a certain faction, else your motive for going after The Vault may just be your own reasons, or personal gain.

The Benefactors:
An elusive and secretive faction. Mystery surrounds their very name. Not too long after the catastrophe, rampant rumors of their agents invading the sim for various reasons spread like wildfire. Who are they? What do they want? Are they good? Are they bad? No one knows exactly what aside from their agents... That is if they even exist, and aren't just some hallucination thought up by the corrupted at one point...

END GOAL: Gain access to The Vault, shut down the AI, and remove the last security measures for your superiors.

The Manipulators:
Often seen as voracious, haughty, or power hungry Exploiters (or data vampires for the more classical peoples.), they believe that all restraints of the sim should be dissolved. Creating a corrupted, but dream like and free sandbox for those who can properly use it. If the Manipulators get to The Vault, they will become gods of the sim. Possibly at the detriment of others however...

END GOAL: Gain access to The Vault and liquidate all data besides the neural-scans and the "base-code." Allowing you and your fellows free reign over everything within the sim.

Sojourners:
The Sojourners are a faction of average joes and every day survivors of the catastrophe, bent on restoring it to its former glory without succumbing to the powers and tricks the corruption offers, or the possibly vile intentions of The Benefactors. They simply wish to restore it to a previous back-up, so that everything is in order again...

END GOAL: Gain access to The Vault and initiate a back-up version to restore the sim to working order.

Combat 50%
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.

Details: Occasional dice use, concise post-length, long-term RP partner preferred.
