I wanted to make a new character and have them anonymous, and I struggled finding an image after searching for 30 minutes. Some characters have great images though, so I thought I should ask this: where do you guys find images for your characters?

I usually use this face claim directory on tumblr: https://herorps.tumblr.com/fcd

Then Google the names of who ever I find interesting and set Google to show free use images.

Many folks actually commission custom art for their characters, too, to have something unique, that really fits, and that they needn't worry about copyright stuff with.

And some use dollmakers as a middle ground. I've used a number myself, although some are choosy about how their stuff is used. I don't have specific links handy, but it's easy to search for. Most are a manga style, many are more cartoony, some lean toward realistic. Off the top of my head, I can tell you Hero Machine (I stick to version 3) has a more western comic book style.

This is 100% of how I personally find images. If you're looking to commission artwork I could make a few suggestions, but they're pretty easy to find I think between rpr and DA.

you can do basic searches like "blonde man with white shirt"
If you see one you even remotely like you can click it and below the image pops up "similar" or other "suggested" images.. and about 5 hours later I have a new recipe for pumpkin pie, 50 other images for other characters, and, a full new pin board for the one i was looking for.

I also paint my out characters. so I use pinterest for references too.

Pinterest is a delightful rabbit hole. You can lose hours looking at copious amounts of pretty, which is not only great to find a faceclaim, but also pictures for a moodboard to help you further develop the feel of said character. Welcome to the Jungle.
