I'm not sure when this started, I assume it's been at least a couple of years of me doing this, but I only noticed it recently (the past several months).

When I come home from work, the first thing I always do is wash my hands really well with soap. This is odd because I don't do work that gets my hands dirty, I'm not immediately preparing food afterwards, and there's no reason for me to wash my hands.

So it's sort of this daily ritual that's like washing the stress and crap and everything that went wrong at work off of my hands before settling in at home.

Does anyone else have any odd daily rituals that they do?

Edit Note: I changed it to add habits too because maybe I'm the only weirdo who thinks washing hands is a ritual. ;)
I'm not sure if I have any. If I do I likely don't notice because I have no set schedule to do things. Not like that anyway. I have my habits... I chew on the end of my stylus like the animal I am, and when I'm stressed I will start to chew on other things too. Like my earbud cord or my sweater sleeve. It's gross, I know, but the tactile pressure is soothing.

The only thing that might come close could be where I sit. It isn't so much after anything, and I don't know why I do it, but every single time I am in my home I sit in the same spot. There are other options, and sometimes I will think about them, but then I ignore them. It's my spot! And I like it there.

Thanks for sharing Somnom, I like your little ritual, it makes me think of cleansing in a very old world way. You just need to wash off the world so you can stabilize yourself back in your home. ;)
I don't know if these count so much as daily rituals so much as possible OCD (legit have recieved concerned mail once on this subject) but there are a lot of things I do for no/little reason.

For one I am very touch sensitive so I find myself touching, rubbing, or caressing things that I enjoy the feeling of, sometimes without fully realizing I'm doing it. The tops of my fingernails when my hands are clean or my cb mic cable are good examples.

I send to move my fingers and hands around a lot while I'm walking, I flex them, relax them, pose them, and justify it by saying it must be something I just enjoy feeling at the time but don't really recall the same enjoyment as I get out of textile enjoyment.

I count literally everything. I won't go into horrid detail because you may need to have recently taken some moderate level algebra and psychology to try understanding my equations, but certain numbers are 'good' while others are 'bad' and I go out of my way to avoid bad ones while seeking good ones. Ex. Blinker, steps between point A and B, times I chew, or breathes I take in a decided period of time. There is far more and please don't offer me any ideas of other things I should be counting either because.....I really don't need any more 😭

Symmetry is very important to me for textile comfort and this may go back to my first point even. If a certain body part touches a thing, like my elbow hits a wall, then the other one needs to also. This can also factor counting in when it comes to fingers and I dont always understand what level of symmetry is going to make me feel comfortable, but of course it has to balance out with the correct number also 😭

I'm a hot mess, and I don't really know if this is what you were asking for or not but these are 100% daily and rituals for me XD
Hmm, I don't know if I have any that would be considered odd. The only one I can really think of is every-day I put flipflops on immediately after getting out of bed because I don't like being barefoot in my own house. Something about the floor I don't like the texture of the carpet especially in the kitchen on the soles of my feet.

Kruhee: Your sitty spot is a personal sitty spot! Oh man, imagine the chaos that would happen if someone else (like moi) sat in it! :D Thanks for sharing!!

Voldarian: Those are really interesting daily rituals! Thank you for sharing so much, especially since they seem so personal! The counting thing would drive me crazy if I had that myself, mainly because I suck at numbers. No more suggestions on things to count from me.

Mercy: Awwh, I completely understand that! I wear house slippers when I visit my parents because I can't stand the texture of their carpet on my feet. UuUUuUuUgh. It's just not a good feeling. Thank you for sharing!!
Aside: My cat has a ritual, every time I get out of the shower he screams at me until I pick him up and then he rubs all over my face and neck until I smell like him again. So it's not just us people ;)

That's exactly how I read it, too.

Every night, after she's brushed her teeth and had a cup of water, my five-year-old daughter brings me her mermaid tail blanket. She crawls entirely inside, until there is neither tail nor child but lumpy sack instead. I then sling her over my shoulder like a bag of potatoes and carry her to bed. If she's misbehaved that day, she has to walk on her own, and that's always treated like a cold punishment.

Oh my gosh, that's so adorable! I love it!!
My habits are pretty consistent. Usually, after I get home after work the first thing I do is lock the door. Then I take off my shoes. Put away my wallet, keys, and work tools. I work in a kitchen so that is my thermometer, walkie talkie, badge, pens, and markers. After taking care of my work stuff I take off my socks. I usually only wear socks when I leave the house. Then I just relax and check over the different sites and messages that I have.
I don't think it's necessarily odd or anything but before bed I always have a cup of tea..
When I get home I always take off my shoes and socks at the door..
Before bed I always put some Vaporub under my nose..
Before writing a long reply I always crack my knuckles..
And when my daughter goes to bed our black cat always has to be called to come in, hop up on her bed, and lay down with her while we say our goodnights and whats on our mind so our thoughts dont keep us up at night.

Sounds a little like OCD rituals I did as a child. I was completely convinced I had OCD, and still am, really, although Zoloft calms it.
