Vincent (played by DazzlingDragon)

Wind, cold and bitter as the frost, snaps at your skin, carrying with it the rank scent of death and decay. The ground below you is dry, rough- awfully hard on the back.

When you open your eyes, you're greeted by a street cluttered with abandoned vehicles and old, tattered corpses. Grey, dilapidated buildings line either side of the street, monuments to an age long past when the bodies strewn all over the ground walked and talked and lived their lives in a peaceful city.

Several buildings have seen sections of their walls erode and crumble to dust over the years. Others have completely caved into piles of rubble. Of the buildings still standing, most of them have big store-front windows, but many are boarded up and/or completely shattered. Shards of glass, glinting in the not-quite-daylight, litter the ground along with bits of broken brick and stone.

There is nothing to smell but death, and little to hear but the howling of wind. Strain your ears for a moment and you may hear a shrill, distant scream before it's abruptly cut off, then even the wind dies and the street falls silent. For better or worse, you appear to be completely alone.

I'm starting a string of Survival Horror roleplays, where you, the hero(s) are trapped and antagonized by a horrible shapeshifting beast and labyrinth-like Town.

Game Format

- Dice
  • The RP is moderately luck-based with a loose dice system. Random traps or encounters and the results of actions with unpredictable outcomes are for the most part decided by 100-sided dice rolls at my discretion. Confession: I’ve never used dice rolls for roleplay before. The system I’m using is a major WIP and may not totally work out. Suggestions for improving it is always appreciated.
  • Your characters will NOT need to have stat sheets for this. Dice rolls only take effect in combat or trap situations when your character attempts something extremely risky with an unpredictable outcome. Think an elaborate plan to trap the monster versus throwing a punch at it; the former has a lot of ways in which it can go wrong, while the latter mostly either lands or it doesn’t.

-Writing
  • Please write complete sentences and adhere to proper grammar as well as you can. Also try to maintain a minimum of one 3-5 sentence paragraph per post, but I won’t be bothered by the occasional one-liner. (Emphasis on occasional, as in only in cases where you absolutely cannot send a longer reply. One-liners are hard for me to respond to.)
  • I am not interested in roleplaying with this style whatsoever:

    *screams* Oh, no! *runs away*

There’s nothing wrong with it, but it doesn’t mesh well with the way I write and almost always comes in one-liners.
  • The genre of this character and its story is survival horror; that means dark themes, violence and gore. If you’re not a fan of that type of content, please consider skipping over this post.
  • Characters from any genre are welcome: slice-of-life, fantasy, sci-fi, etc.! Part of the reason I ever came up with this concept is to have an excuse to have character connections across wildly different settings.

-Group Size
  • This roleplay works best as:
    • A 1x1 with your character as the sole protagonist, facing the horror completely alone.
    • A 1x1 where you play two characters who work together OR I call in a friendly character of my own to help you.
    • A group of 3: you and one other person playing as protagonists, then me as the force of evil.
Please let me know which group setup you’d prefer!

Rules
  • I will not tolerate any rude or toxic behavior whatsoever.
  • Please be patient with me; I generally can only post one to two times a day. Sometimes I’ll post more frequently, especially on weekends, and at other times I may be gone for several days. I will try my best to tell when I’m going to be unavailable for an extended period of time, but I won’t always remember. Please ping me if I disappear for three or four days without a heads up. Thank you.
  • Pay attention to the limitations of magic and tech laid out in Vincent’s bio, specifically under “Where.” While you can play Sci-fi or fantasy characters, their magic abilities and tech are essentially locked or broken within the boundaries of Town. This rule matters, a lot, and I will not bend or break it. By all means, ask questions about what is and isn’t allowed. If you break the rule once, I’ll correct you and figure you didn’t read it or forgot. If you do it again, chances are I’ll end the roleplay, because by then I can only assume you’re blatantly ignoring the limitations laid out by the setting.
  • Be prepared for and willing to accept a loss and by extension the “bad ending” of this story. 99% of the time, a bad ending occurs when your character dies, and based on the dice system, the chances of dying are not insignificant. I’ll never “auto-kill” anyone myself, but we might get into situations that are totally hopeless after a long string of bad dice rolls. Just be open to writing the end of a tragedy.
  • This is less of a rule and more of a suggestion, but I strongly encourage both outside-the-box thinking and dynamic character chemistry (when there is more than one protagonist in the story. Also...chemistry doesn't always mean romance. Please be sparse with the romance.). I live for that stuff, and am looking for partners who feel the same.
  • This premise will be open for awhile! It may periodically close and reopen, but I want to do multiple roleplays with this premise, so by all means, feel free to let me know if you’re interested, regardless of the status in the title. Thank you very much!

If there's something you're wondering about, just ask and I'll answer whenever I'm available. I open to running no more than, say, two separate roleplays off of this premise at once. That might become subject to change.
Magic 30%
Some magic. Few can use it, but most of the players probably won't have it. Magical characters will likely believe that they are all alone.
Technology 50%
Modern
Combat 50%
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.

Details: Occasional dice use, adjustable length posts, long-term RP partner preferred.

As usual, Avi open for this as needed. ~v^ Let me know if you need a player 3

Sweet! I’ve got room for all of you.

So, in all honesty I’d be willing to do a group of 4 with you because I trust ya’ll to both get along and not spontaneously disappear, but if one you’d rather go in alone, let me know and I’ll split you guys.
Avi good with whatever seems fun! ^v^
I'd be fine with that
group is fun

I’ll take one more 1 x 1, if you’re interested!
I actually prefer small groups, so I'll have to decline. Good luck with your roleplay!!
