Though cliche I do believe it's among the most calming of sounds, and it usually has the nice side effect of bringing back beachy memories. I've been listening to a band called Cigarettes After Sex on repeat a bunch too (saw them live and the singer's voice is just so fantastic).
Also recently, I've been really into listening to lofi hiphop/chillhop/jazzy beats for writing and background noise.
