Niko is one again pulled away from his home world, and gets placed in what appears to be a small town. Afraid and alone, they immediately seeks help. However, help may be more familiar with Niko than he/she is with help, for Niko was transported into our world.

Magic is rare, but not unheard of. Mundane characters may or may not believe in it. Magical characters may form small and exclusive pockets for study, protection, etc.
Near future, perhaps cloning and genetic manipulation
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
