Accidently reported someone. by clicking the wrong button here... What will happen if you accidentally flag something?
First, it takes at least two clicks to actually report something. The first brings you to a page that asks you for info, and if you don't hit "submit" on the second page, no report is made.

Next: If no one did anything wrong, nothing! All reports are reviewed by a human making a real judgement call. No one gets in trouble just because they were reported. Reporting is actually encouraged any time you're not sure if something is breaking a rule, and can also be used if someone said something that makes you worried about them, just to have a mod check in to make sure they're okay.

I can officially confirm what Zelphyr said. :)

Before anything gets reported to us, you have to confirm the report on a separate page first. It will show up in our queue and the moderation team reviews them all individually. If it was an accidental report or there's no info available, we check in with the reporter about the issue and close it if it was an obvious accident. Nobody gets in trouble for an accidental report!

You're also welcome to report the post again and leave a note explaining what happened. That way the mods can just close it and no harm is done. :)
