Christmas morning and snowstorms.
Oh dear, I have so many.

On my mom’s side, going to Tennessee for Christmas. Every 23rd of December without fail (when we’re there!), we meet up with her childhood friends’ families. With so many of us ranging from 19-14, we play capture the flag. In the dark. In this old abandoned field with ruins of old barns, silos, and stables. It’s probably dangerous, but no one’s gotten injured besides the occasional scuffed hands.

On my dad’s side, meeting up with his sister’s family for Thanksgiving or Christmas where I can meet up with my cousin. I hardly see her anymore.

Playing Nertz while it snows outside.

Playing Monopoly.

Running in when you’ve had enough of the cold. The tip of my nose is red, the inside of my ears hurt, and my lungs are frozen, but I’ve got this giddy smile as the heat of the house washes over me.

Fighting with my siblings about which cup has the most hot chocolate.

Stealing extra marshmallows for hot chocolate.

Laying by the fire with my dog. I’m probably knitting the scarf I’ve never finished. It’s so long now.

And many more, but this is really what I can think of/remember.

This sounds like a blast! XD **sneaks to Tennessee on Dec 23**

A have a ton of aunts, uncles, & cousins on one side of the family. I used to love congregating at my grandmother's house and, it might sound silly, but we'd play Canasta. I don't know that many young people that play (or even know) the card game, but in our family it was tradition and the competition was fairly fierce! Nobody wanted partnered with Gram, as she was never a good player, but everyone vied for the seat to her left. (So that she'd be the one discarding to you!)
- my Oma was an amazing baker and she'd make the best gingerbread for Christmas. I'll take a stab at her recipe this year, but she was a baking god so I doubt I'll measure up lmao

- building a huge fire in the woodstove and watching it all day

- the European side of my family did this Christmas Eve thing where you run outside barefoot at night and see who can stand the cold the longest

- new traditions created with friends! It took me a while to realize I didn't hate the holidays, I just disliked the people. Now it's all good! We watch terrible movies and invite over people who don't have anyone else to spend the holidays with
- My parents allowing my brother and I to eat chocolate chip cookies that we baked for Santa the day before as breakfast on Christmas morning.

- My parents forcing my brother and I to stand in front of the decorated tree on Christmas morning so they could take a picture.

- Also, dancing to Bing Crosby's Christmas album with my dad as a kid every year throughout the entire month of December while the living room was lit up with holiday lights.

- Making various food items and packaging them up to give out as gifts!

Okay, that might be something I need to introduce my family to. This would be incredibly fun!
