Well, I was waiting for someone to translate the text, but since no one has yet ... here we go!
Here is the cipher that the aliens used last year. Based on that, the text on the fragment says:
"Find he e"
The "h" I am not 100% sure about. It might be a "g."

Some letters may be hidden under the rock. If the script is centered, then "find" needs one more letter, and the mysterious e at the end needs 2, like this: "Find_ he __e." And because we can't see the arc of the last letter in "find_", it means the arc would be on the upper right. S is one of the letters with an UR arc, so I'm gonna posit that the full word is "finds."

We got the same result; I'm pretty sure it's an 'h', not a g. I think it's not a far stretch to say that the message is something along the lines of "Find (t)he [x]", as well, but without some more scrap being revealed, it's hard to say for sure!
