The Inquisition is an order created during the Holy War with the purpose of overseeing the suppression (extermination) of the Vampire threat. The order is headed by a circle of individuals - the leaders of the various kingdoms - with the ruler of the capital [Insert capital here] acting as its head.
They are the ones who took their kingdoms' best soldiers and trained them to use Holy Magic. Coupled with shiny new weapons and matching armor, these soldiers became their special military force known as "Holy Knights". Under the Inquisition's orders, the Holy Knights exterminated Vampires and put a quick end to the Holy War.
The Inquisition is still around today, the inner circle succeeded by the former members' descendants. However, their use is limited to common protection and religious practices now due to the fact that Vampires - the enemies they were designed to defeat - are no longer around. Now, the Holy Knights patrol the streets of kingdoms and towns, acting as guardians in place of their former responsibility.
Though many can recognize the insignia of the Inquisition - a sophisticated cross design - on their armor, very few know the true origins of the group.
In addition, the birthing of Holy Magic also brought with it a huge boom of support for the Church of Light. The Inquisition now has roots in every Church location in the world, providing them with many benefits to support their teachings, both monetary and magical.
These benefits include donations, cleansing of sins, and protective blessings, among other things.
