Within the despair of the Vampires' reign, one young man decided to stand up and fight against the monsters. By experimenting with various ways to harness the sun's power - one of their greatest weaknesses - he successfully developed a unique type of magic, that would later come to be known as Holy Magic.
When exposed to the holy energy, Vampires will react as if they are being exposed to sunlight. It burns their skin and completely nullifies their ability to utilize their Blood Magic, thus making it an effectively way to neutralize them.
The young man's name and origins have been lost to history, but many still worship him as the Savior, who blessed the world with a brand new magic type.
Some theorize that when he supposedly disappeared sometime during the war, he actually went into a godly state of hibernation and is still alive today. But that's just not possible, right?

The Holy Arts
The Savior's religion (which needs a proper name) celebrates Human's virtues rather than installing a sense of sin. Evil in this world has many forms more worrying than human vices, after all. Instead of asking for forgiveness for human faults, the religion puts forth that Humans and life itself is holy and close to godhood. Brotherhood is a strong aspect. Newer teachings over the decades have been widened to include the Kin and other life into this fold, but Undead folk (Vampires, Ghouls, Machinations such as Golems, etc.) Are a strong exclusion. Above all, the Savior is to be thanked profusely and efforts never forgotten (though his likeness and name are lost to time and debated fervently). To be Thankful of the Savior and continue his protection of Humanity and life is of the highest priority.
Thus so, the texts that propagate his arts and teachings are named after the many virtues of Humanity. The Hymns of these texts grant different Miracles. Most books are not to be handled by any not within the clergy, and a few still by only the highest merit within the order.
Justice (Aequitas) - Book of Binding/Sealing Miracles
Harmony (Concordia) - Book of Great Healing Miracles
Loyalty (Fide) - Book of... Mind Control? Spirit Control? Indoctrination?
Courage (Virtus) - Book of Boons (buffs)
Haste (Celeritas) - Book of Quickening Miracles
Judgement (Judicium) - Book of Retribution (Offensive Miracles)
Truth (Veritas) - Book of... Truth Serum-esque Miracles?
Thankfulness/Life/Saved - (I.e. The Book of The Saved?) - The primary text (Bible equivalent) that is circulated and used everywhere holding the general use miracles allowed to even peasants and smallest of parishes. Medicinal recipes, Harvest rituals, etc. Much of the book holds the teachings of The Savior and how to properly lead a wholesome and moral life. It is debated which teachings were directly from the Savior, and which were written by later "prophets" with their own reasonings for additions.
The root of many Miracles within these books were once basic spells invented by other arcane savants and orginizations prior to the Savior's time. The Savior, in his immense ingenuity, altered and improved upon them. He imbued them with his art, blessing them to be effective against the Undead and other evils. Thus so, they were brought into the fold of the holy texts.
His original work, Aquitas, which robbed Ghouls of their incredible speed and bound them will always be remembered and held with great importance. His later art, Judicium, should be treated with great care that it may never be needed again.
