Everstone was founded in 1695 by Sarah Harwood, a witch who survived the Salem Witch Trials in Massachusetts. Guided by visions and spirits of the land, Harwood gathered a small group of other survivors and journeyed south to the Shenandoah Valley. There she negotiated pacts with the spiritual leaders of the Manahoac and Monacan peoples and bound the valley under mutual protection and secrecy.
The earliest settlement consisted of fortified homesteads, orchards, and a ritual tower. Over the eighteenth century, Everstone evolved into a sanctuary for persecuted aetherworlders fleeing both mundane and ecclesiastical persecution.
Industrial development accelerated after 1900, when local covens collaborated with gifted engineers to merge electrical and arcane systems, producing the first sustainable “aether grid.” Following World War II, Everstone formalized its internal government and implemented veiling protocols to withstand modern satellite surveillance.
