Heartland-Specific Rules
1. Before joining, you must read the entirety of the following rules. This is to minimise the likelihood of future issues arising within the group.
2. Due to the presence of mature content within The Heartlands, all members must be over the age of 18.
3. Currently, only characters affiliated with the central Heartland Gang are being accepted.
4. When creating a character, please refer to the Character Creation hub for a simple guide on creating a unique and flavoursome individual. Here, you may also find a list of character concepts that are free to claim and use.
5. Aside from the use of RDR2's fictional version of the United States, the content of The Heartland's is to be kept as historically accurate as possible. This pertains to weaponry, language, travel, and general living standards. A guide to resources is available for reference.
6. Every character application will be reviewed by Grimdark. Please do not submit WIP characters to the group -- Grimdark is more than happy to help you during the development process, but asks that you only apply to the group with completed character profiles.
7. Multiple characters are allowed, but each requires their own profile. If you are lacking space, the group has several character pages available if your idea is great!
8.The Heartlands bears a singualar timeline, meaning that in-character, life-altering events are permanent. This means that if your character loses an arm or gains a scar during one roleplay, they will carry that forward into all future roleplays.
Core Roleplaying Rules
1. No Godmodding, meaning that each character can only be controlled and written as by their owner. If an instance arises where one character interacts with another in an NPC-like fashion (passing by another character in camp, for example), said character's owner must give consent for their brief usage.
2. IC and OOC opinions must be regarded seperately. Do not berate a character for the actions of their writer. The Old West was notorious for being rife with injustices -- some of which characters may adopt as their own. This in no way reflects on the opinions or lifestyle of the writer.
3. No metagaming, unless agreed upon by members. This means that a character's backstory is entirely hidden from other characters unless it has been revealed in the past or otherwise happened upon by other means.
4. Be good to one another. Though disagreements should rarely happen at all, they must be handled in a civil, harmless manner. OOC drama should be kept away from the forums.
5. Bullying and harassment will not be tolerated. If another member is stirring trouble, send a message explaining the issue to Grimdark.
6. The Heartland's employs a three strike system. Two warnings, and a final ban. Bans will not be revoked under any circumstance.
Writing Expectations
1. The Heartland's is an advanced writing community and so expects its members to keep to a good standard of reading and writing. Grammar and spelling should be concise and easily legible. The odd mistake is fine, and you will not be called up on typos.
2. The Heartland's expects at least one good-sized paragraph per response. Post length is always variable however, and we understand that dialogue interactions often need to be snappier to keep a realistic pace. We only ask that you put thought into every response, and give your partner something to work with!

Though nought more than a little spark at the moment, I'm hoping this group will thrive and begin to grow after I throw up the first recruitment post. Suggestions & questions are forever welcome, especially at this point. -
