Overview:
A long-dormant volcano, massive in its construct, winds into itself and just skyward from the ocean like a spire until it culminates at its peak, currently the highest point in all of Vaelthea. The island itself does not appear at all inhabitable to any creature beyond the dragons and dragonkin that call it home, taking solace in caves deep within the volcano's surface. Ddraig’s Peak lacks any notable greenery and has been heavily blanketed by a thick layer of obsidian rock formed after years of active eruptions. Cracks within this glossy extrusive rock give way to the red warmth of pulsating lava below, spilling out from the edges and pouring into the northernmost portion of the ocean. The beaches are predominantly comprised of black soot, and the water surrounding the island is ominously dark. Seated equidistant between Vianden and Mvaserine, it is a constant point of contention as Elves and Humans vie for control of the dragonkin homeland. The creatures have yet to pledge allegiance to any one race save for their own.
Government:
The Dragonkin of Ddraig’s Peak have no formal government; instead, power is shared among autonomous clans governed by ancient traditions and mutual respect. A Council of Flamekeepers—elders from each clan—gathers to mediate disputes and advise, while leadership rises situationally, often through ritual contests or during times of war, then dissolves with peace. Order is maintained through clan-enforced oaths, spiritual beliefs, and fierce honor codes, creating a fluid and organic system where influence shifts with circumstance rather than decree.
