In the future, a company known as ReachMe Japan (later shortened to RMJ) buys out every social media service and replaces them with a brand new one called ReachMe. ReachMe is instantly a huge hit in Japan, as it merged all of the user's previous social medias together, including followers, posts, pictures, etc. Today, ReachMe is bigger than ever, and practically everyone with a cellphone has already signed up for it.
Then one day, a text message is anonymously sent out to millions of ReachMe users across Japan with a strange subject that offers them the opportunity to make 3 billion yen. Most ignore the message as spam (as they should), but numerous curious souls decide to open it. Once they do, they are immediately greeted with a message that says:
By opening this text message, you have agreed to participate in Dead Account. From this point on, if you attempt to call the police, ignore this message, or block this number, you will die in 24 hours. In order to confirm your participation in Dead Account, please reply to this text message in any way. After your entry is confirmed, the rules of the preliminary round will be sent to you within 24 hours.
We thank you for your participation.
The first 100,000 people who replied to the message are then given their first instructions: In three days, raise your ReachMe followers to at least 100. Those who are unable to complete the task will die, and those who do will be officially entered into Dead Account.
This is only the beginning. When faced with numerous life-or-death challenges centered around their ability to increase, decrease, and even manipulate their followers, the true Dead Account, and the horrors that await within it, have only just begun.
