BODY MODIFICATION
"Every upgrade has a maintenance schedule."
In 2080, body modification serves as medicine, labor equipment, fashion, survival technology, disability aid, gang signal, corporate leash, class marker, fetish object, and personal art all at once. A person might get augmented for a variety of reasons such as injury, job requirement, boredom, gang requirement, a lover asked, they hated the mirror.
Most legitimate implants are tied into a person’s stack and linked to their Credentials, which allows employers, hospitals, insurers, transit systems, and government services to request proof of things such as: implant status, medical compatibility, firmware safety, or recall notices.

/Quote:Cyberware is mechanical, electronic, synthetic, or machine-integrated modification, with Fashionware based entirely around aesthetic augmentation. Cyberware installations are performed by licensed technicians called Modders; unlicensed technicians are called Auggers.
Bioware is living tissue, engineered organs, cultivated muscle, modified glands, synthetic biology, gene editing and surgical redesign. Biosculpting is performed by licensed BioTechs; unlicensed technicians are called Rippers.
Body augmentation is made possible through the use of nanite systems. Some modifications can be done with a walk-in visit to a clinic, and many shops can also upgrade, repair, or tune existing augments. Other installations, however, require hospital visits and involve recovery time.

// CYBERWARENeuralware
NeuralBox – The most important aspect of cyberware. Used to route cyberware signals into the nervous system. Modern NeuralBoxes are tri-part systems: Cortical Unit, Caudal Unit, and Spinal Bus.
Cortex Processor – Cortical Unit upgrade. Allows direct interface with external systems. Variants include RigLink, GunLink, DriveLink, and FrameLink.
PainHibitor – A NeuralBox upgrade that temporarily mutes pain perception. It does not prevent injury.
Augments
Biomonitor – Under-skin display mounted on the forearm that provides a real-time readout of common body functions. Can be fed into HUDs or broadcast to a remote receiver.
HoloLenses – Lenses implanted in the eyes providing HUD overlays, zoom, short-burst flash cameras, group tracking, glare suppression, lowlight visibility, motion blur removal, targeting scopes. Can have novel effects like shifting or exotic colors, patterns, logos, etc.
CommLink – Ear-canal and jaw implant for encrypted audio, translation, wide-band radio. Military, corporate, courier, medical, and street variants all exist. Upgrade: SonicFilters.
NasMesh – A nasal filter implant that helps with smoke, pollutants, industrial dust, mold spores. It does not filter out bad smells.
> which is unfortunate
StimPort – A cartridge-fed distribution system for prescribed medication, emergency drugs, combat stims, or illegal chemical cocktails.
PulseKnees – Knee joint actuators for sprint bursts or rooftop vaulting. Originally developed by skateboarders and parkour enthusiasts.
GeoSensors – Sensors installed in the heel; senses vibrations and allows users to tell intensity and direction. Common in earthquake-prone regions.
VoxSynth – Vocal cord modulator allowing precise control over pitch, tone, resonance, volume, accent smoothing, vocal masking, and performance effects. Popular among entertainers.
Subdermal Weave – Nanotube-threaded dermis mesh. Slows small-caliber rounds and shrapnel. Can be installed in sections or over the entire body. Common in both the military and police.
Thermal Regulation Overlay – Subdermal mesh that helps prevent nerve damage, heatstroke, and smoke blackout in high temperature environments. Can be installed in sections or over the entire body. Originally developed for industrial welders and firefighters.
Replacements
VantaEyes – Full ocular replacements. Can look natural or visibly artificial. Upgrades may include infrared, UV, telescopic vision, microscopic focus, low-light imaging, filters, recording, HUD overlays, glare suppression, and targeting support. Originally developed for the blind.
AudDrums – Ear-canal replacements offering restored or enhanced hearing. Upgrades may include audio recording, voice stress analysis, sonic filtering, radio integration, encrypted transmission, or dampening against sonic weapons.
Cyberlimbs – Cybernetic arms and legs, including hands and feet. Have all of the same functionality of normal limbs with flexible electronic skin that restores pressure mapping, grip feedback, heat warnings, texture detection, slip detection, and pain-simulation thresholds. They can be fitted with a number of options, including storage pockets or weapons.
PlateGraft – Armor plates grafted onto the body (meat-body still exists underneath). Microscopically porous, allowing the skin to breathe. Parts cover specific areas. Offers better damage resistance than Subdermal Weave.
Fashionware
GloTats – Appear identical to normal tattoos, except that they emit light via energy that is absorbed from ambient light during the day. Quality varies greatly.
DigiSkin – Embedded into the real skin and contains a display layer that emits light and patterns.
TechNails – Fake nails akin to DigiSkin that replaces the real nail. Can be any color or shape, have patterns, or emit light.
FauxHair – Artificial hair with properties similar to DigiSkin that can completely replace real hair or be added to real hair. Can be any color, emit light, or change tension.
// BIOWAREHair, Skin, & Nails
NeoDerm – Vat-grown or biofabricated replacement skin grafted onto the body as living tissue. Used medically for severe burns, acid trauma, radiation injury, infection scarring, reconstructive surgery, and failed cyberware interfaces. Vascularizes, grows nerve endings, sweats, scars, tans poorly or unevenly depending on quality.
SkinLace – Skin is threaded with biological fibers from artificial spider silk making it much more resistant to damage. Not as strong as Subdermal Weave.
Nictitating Membrane – A transparent, biological second eyelid that protects the eyes from dust, debris, and intense flashes of light.
Follicle Implants – Bioengineered hair follicles can be implanted anywhere on the body. Originally intended for alopecia patients as a solution to hairloss.
> then the furry fandom got a hold of them.
BioClaws – Retractable claws made from a combination of enhanced keratin deposits added to the end of the last knuckle and elastic ligaments added to the finger to pull the claw backward and upward.
Musculature
Grafted Muscle – Vat-grown organic muscle that enhances appearance, strength, endurance, and physical damage absorption. When properly grafted, it is completely indistinguishable from natural muscle.
LinguaFlex – Modified tongue musculature originally developed for speech therapy. Offers greater flexibility and precision.
BiteMuscle Grafts – Small grafts added to the masseter and temporalis muscles. Originally for reconstructive surgery after facial trauma. Now popular with competitive fighters, bodyguards, and people who want stronger jawlines.
Teeth
BioEnamel – Vat-grown replacement enamel cultured from engineered cells that grow onto teeth. Nearly impossible to stain, extremely cavity resistant, self-remineralizes using calcium from saliva, and is slightly more impact resistant than natural enamel. Growth takes several weeks and excessive acidic diets still damage it.
DentinWeave – Engineered dentin containing collagen fibers aligned for maximum fracture resistance. Common among athletes, soldiers, industrial workers, and people with severe bruxism (teeth grinding).
Organs & Glands
Salivary+ Glands – Produces saliva with optimized chemistry that naturally suppresses cavity bacteria, heals wounds faster inside the mouth, causes less dry mouth, and improves digestion.
Improved Organs – Lab grown internal organs with improved tissue, structure, filters, etc.
OxySponge – Genetically modified lung tissue that lets users hold their breath for extended periods. Originally developed for divers.
Adrenal Cascade Amplifier – Modified adrenal gland that overdrives adrenal release during high-stress or near-death. Converts fear and panic into raw aggressive survival-drive. Side effects include nosebleeds and cracked capillaries, and increased potential for blackouts or berserk states. Originally intended for special forces.
Injectibles
OsteoBoost – A bio-engineered compound of minerals injected into the bones that improves the bone marrow, increasing both bone density and platelet production.
Enhanced Antibodies – Fully organic, bio-engineered anti-bodies designed to be more efficient than natural ones. Cut healing time in half and boost resistance to diseases.
RootLatch – Bioengineered collagen that reinforces the tissue anchoring teeth into the jaw. Helps prevent teeth from loosening with age.
OralGlow Flora – Engineered oral microbiome that suppresses plaque, eliminates bad breath, and reduces tartar. Broad-spectrum antibiotics can wipe them out, requiring recolonization. -
