So far there is only one known threat to the residents of Crow's Hollow. No one knows exactly what these creatures are called, but over the years residents have taken to calling them "Horrors". The reason why is in the name itself, for they exist solely to terrify, slaughter, and feast on human flesh. And here's everything you need to know about them. Further information will come with story progression.
•
The horrors only come out at night.
As soon as the sun sets residents best be inside. To help give residents plenty of warning, every evening before sunset The Ringers walk up and down the streets ringing handbells, signaling for everyone to return home and secure themselves in for the night.

Talismans
Before the Talismans and their purpose was discovered seven years ago, the survivors' only option to avoid slaughter by the Horrors was to hide and pray they made it through the night during the hunt. Needless to say, the chances of survival back then were lower, but by no means impossible. It was by chance that they eventually discovered the Talismans prevent the Horrors from coming into an enclosed space or structure without invitation. From houses to vehicles to tents, as long as a survivor has one of these hanging in their homestead's entrance or wherever they're living, the Horrors
cannot enter unless invited verbally or implied (by opening a door or window). At present, every household has one, but there are only a handful of spares left.

They can shapeshift into human form to try and deceive you into letting them in.
This is why townsfolk cover all windows and doors with windows in their homes after dark. It's also good practice to never look outside at night, as the Horrors will often linger around homesteads to taunt people and/or try to deceive them into letting them inside.
•
There is no known way to kill them.
As of the moment they
cannot be killed.
