❖ Personality ❖
❖ -- Witty and charismatic, balanced by a no-nonsense demeanor
❖ -- Uses sharp humor as a shield when emotionally vulnerable
❖ -- Brash, impulsive, and deeply passionate
❖ -- Prone to hot-headed reactions and rushing into action over reason
Honest; loyal to a fault... Dante is witty and charismatic but also no-nonsense, which fed into his sharp sense of humor, falling back on it whenever he felt emotionally vulnerable. He is brash, impulsive, and passionate in nature, rushing into action over reason, often leading him into trouble, as well as being a hot-head. He also tends to believe that being alone makes one unhappy, and that the source of true happiness is other people, rather than themselves. Despite being well-educated and quoting classical books, his noble upbringing did not prevent him from cheating at card games. Dante had become extremely wise and analytical for his age; able to understand that an idea, if pushed too far, would be self-detrimental to the person and those around him. He is strongly independent, as he prefers to do things his own way; now, he is the junior Lieutenant of the Corazzieri, he remains honest as possible, loyal to a fault, and seeks love in his own manner.

❖ History ❖
Born July 13, 1551, near the Gates of Hercules in Pula, Istria, a province of the Venetian Republic… to Ania Svehla of Ragusa, and Ulberto D’Ettore of Pula, Dante was raised in a shipbuilder’s household in Pula, Istria. Thanks be to his Dalmazian aristocratic mother, he was well educated, having access to tutors and books from Austria and Dalmazia. At some point in the family’s relationship, Ania, discovered the nefarious activities of her husband, abandoned her family, leaving Ulberto, in 1555, to raise their 4-year-old son alone; and she moving to Vienna with her family. A year later in 1556, Ulberto moved to Venezia, where he now called home... not far from a long-time friend... Ludovico Collari and his wife, Lucia.

Quote:
Pula, Istria, province of Republic of Venice. The Venetians took over Pula in 1331 and would rule the city until the present. Known for its mild climate, smooth sea, and unspoiled nature. The city has a long tradition of winemaking, fishing, shipbuilding; Istria's administrative center since ancient Roman times. The Gate of Hercules dates from the 1st century. At the top of the single arch one can see the bearded head of Hercules, carved in high-relief, and his club on the adjoining voussoir.
❖ Death becomes them… ❖
When not with his tutors in Venezia, Dante traveled with his father, visiting places around Europe and various cities of the East in and around the Ottoman Empire. And in 1559, Dante, now 8 years old, accompanied his father to Vienna, where Ulberto was attending a meeting with his fellow Cremisi d’Luna members regarding the Ottoman Empire and current affairs within France.
While the young 8-year-old was visiting the Italian Ambassador’s children in their home there, and his Father attending his meeting, the house was attacked, the Ambassador and his family were killed. Luckily the Ambassador’s wife, before she was murdered, had hidden young Dante in the hidden room designed for such atrocities. Later, the Cremisi d’Luna Guild was able to rescue Dante and make it to the rendezvous point, only to find that the boy’s father and his associates had all been betrayed by one of their own and assassinated.
Following the assassination of this beloved Father, and his mother now remarried in Danzig, Dante was returned to Venezia and shuffled from home to home; Venetian homes, that were made of mainly the families of slain men, inconspicuously Guild members; But one that he gravitated to moreso was Familia Collari, particularly the older brother Francesco and the youngest, Anzola; with who he spent a lot of his free time. Their father, Ludovico, a former Cremisi d’Luna Guild member always kept a close, unseen watch on the boy...
And later, in 1566, just like his Father and his surrogate Father, he planned to join the Cremisi d’Luna Guild. Explaining his desire to Ludovico regarding the Guild, the elder man sought out a silent Guild member, who arranged the 16-year-old Dante to the *Guild* that his Father loved so much.... to the leader, Antonio da Barleto; their headquarters within the Palazzo Ducale, a grand Gothic palace that was the Doge of Venezia's official residence and seat of the Venetian Republic's government, secretly hidden in a room behind the Sala Consiglio dei Dieci (Trial Chambers of the Council of Ten).
Quote:
"...The Cremisi d’Luna... They gave me a purpose. Something to believe in. To see that betrayed... I need to make it right myself. I need to know why."
Now 16 years old (1567), Dante was then inducted into the Cremisi d’Luna Guild, trained refining skills Ludovico had already taught him, and upon his reciting the Creed, silently vowed to hunt down the murderers to redeem the Guild members’ families for their caring of him all those years.
❖ Exile… ❖
Two and a half years later (1569), and some thirteen assignments later, Dante met with the Cremisi d’Luna Guild senior members and was directed to the ceremonial chamber. Dante attempted to update the members, but was soon silenced and judgment cast upon him instead. Signore Antonio da Barleto and the Senior Members did not approve of what they believed was a personal vendetta for revenge, brashly killing targets without permission from the Guild. They declared that Dante was banished from Venice, and he was no longer welcome in the Guild, and that he was fortunate they would not punish him further. Dante left the Guild and Venice to live on the streets in Vienna, where he gained a reputation for being a drunk, brawler, thief, and vagabond. While in exile, Dante was able to clean himself up, then set to self-refining his skills even further, learning more about poisons and chemicals, and advancing the quality of the grenade from the very people he was against. But his revival from the depths of degradation and his technical advances became noteworthy of the Antonio da Barleto and the Cremisi d’Luna Guild. And in late 1570, he was summoned to the Chambers once more to renew his vows to the Guild.
But by April 1571, Dante, thru his own intelligence network, received word of a planned attack on the Doge’s caravan by raiders hired by a mysterious benefactor, but the plot was foiled and the raiders eliminated by Dante and another Assassin. In less than 10 days, the Doge Alvise I Mocenigo had assigned Dante to the Venetian Army as a sergeant. In more than a month (June’71), Dante was on the frontlines of battle against the Ottoman hordes in his old homeland of Istria.
Between June 1571 and May 1573, Dante had been able to get a few weeks here and there to return to Venezia... and in that time, he and Anzola, would spend many days together.
❖ Reggimento Corazzieri ❖
From his early childhood, Dante spent several days in terms of basic swordsmanship as well as hunting. By the time of his early adulthood, he had become an excellent swordsman, capable of engaging multiple opponents in battle and could utilize the environment to his advantage, his skill was honed to point where he was able to defeat his mentor. Plus, he proved to be a capable swimmer, able to swim great distances with exceptional ease.
But his bravery and discipline in combat, and his courage under fire gained the respect of his commanders. And his arrival in June of ’73 would begin a new chapter in his life. Traits and skills of war, and those from the Guild, were not the reason for his next move. What impressed the Corazzieri commander most was Dante’s sharp observational skill, as he was able to identify and pinpoint several opportunities that could aid him during his assignments; this deductive skill also helped him when solving numerous murder mysteries around Venice. Due to his skills and talents, he was commissioned as a junior Lieutenant in the Reggimento Corazzieri under the command of Captain Marco Antonio d’Ezzelini.
