❖ Personality ❖
Rinaldo maintains a sense of fashion, manages a rather expensive taste, and a certain panache for the unusual. His arrogance befitting a Venetian Noble and expects to own what is rightfully his. Once having a place in Venezia, voted several times to the Council of Ten, he finds Paris, London, and Vienna to his liking as well; maybe it is the aire of nobility that tends to lure him there. But the exemplary Venetian noble he remains, dedicated to the position Doge, if not the man, and country. He has been known to be fun and humorous to particular people; pushy and arrogant to others – where will you fit in?
He hopes to find wealth in the stringiest of places... to carve out what is rightfully his by noble right; and to assist in strengthening the Republic.

❖ History ❖
Rinaldo d’Este is descended from great Italian nobility and an ancient Venetian family and is registered in the Libro d'oro of Venice… Born October 31, 1545, in the Ducale Palace in Modena, to Francesco IV of Modena and Lucrecia Barberini of Venezia, thus combining an ancient family of Venezia, and a great house of Italy. Wealth is attended from both families and is continued to be supported financially by the Papacy in Rome.
Rinaldo is elected to the Council of Ten and has managed to remain within the political arena of the Venetian government. He is said to maintain several Bocche dei Leoni (lion's mouths; Informants) in both governmental and personal affairs; and possibly even a State Inquisitor.
He maintains an affinity for good pistols, good sword-steel, fine horses, and women, regardless of class... and is highly skilled in all of them.
❖ Residence: ❖
Unlike the grand Palazzo Barberini in Rome... Ca'Barberini II is a simple palazzo located in Venezia’s Sestieri Dorsoduro. The building faces the Grand Canal, with a small tributary under the building proper for vessel access to the Canal.
The portal of the palazzo is made of Istrian marble, in a rectangular shape, surmounted by Borromini's false-perspective windows on its perimeter, decorated with checkered patterns.
The ground floor is used as storerooms; and the *piani nobili* (noble floors) on the top two floors; with...
The second floor is used for formal entertaining; specifically in the great hall, situated with finer views, especially on the largest bend of the Grand Canal; and more practically to avoid the dampness and odors of the street level with its larger windows and balconies and open loggias; and smaller rooms for more informal discussions; and...
The third floor is strictly for private residential use, with large bedrooms, often connected by ornate doors.
The rear of the building has a garden known as a giardino segreto ("secret garden"), for its concealment from an outsider's view.
