Here in NA, we want there to be a unique experience where every character has the opportunity to bring something special to the story! Because of this, a general principle should be followed for general gameplay and RP experience.
- Dont purposefully bring OP powers and OP characters into the forefront of the story. Extremely over-powered characters risk breaking the setting and just making it un-fun for others. So leave the world-breaking, omega, cosmic level and beyond sort of characters behind. We are not trying to power-creep the start of the game, and would rather see awesome story thrust people into higher levels of power over time.
When you sit down to think about your character, their powers, and how they will hold up in the RP, we want characters to feel like they are at least on the same relative playing field. So because of this, the following bullet points will be applied to ALL SUPER CHARACTERS, as a general principle.
- Supers / Meta-Humans are naturally stronger than non-meta / regular humans. This extends to Strength, Durability, and Stamina. Supers in general can just dish it out, and take quite the beating. Thats what makes them super. So have fun punching holes in bricks, crashing through cars and walls, and getting back up just to brush the smear of blood off your lip. This is a rule of cool for everyone to enjoy!
- Supers / Meta-Humans, by extension of their super strength, are generally bullet proof! This basically applies to all standard NPCs encounters who would be using firearms against supes, to give more rule-of-cool moments to heroes and villains getting to be as badass as possible. BUT! It does not apply against characters who want to specialize in advanced weapons and ballistics. Characters who make their power or abilities based around gun-play, will get to be just as dangerous as if it were any super power. And story based tech bullshit is here to be all our fun problem of course.
When picking your power, have fun but try to have an identity with your character and what they can do. I hate to say, but characters like SUPERMAN and other Herald Level characters who seem to have bundles of powers, are just boring or overly stacked. Pick a theme, get creative and lean into it, but maybe try not to make a catch-all power that just leaves no weaknesses or downsides. Remember! Losing and letting another person get the W means your character gets new motivations, and you help lift your fellow players.
- Play to lift! If we all lift each other, we all get to be winners! No God-Modding. Take your hits, take your injuries, and make actions and consequences feel meaningful.
