    ❖ HISTORY ❖

Ariana’s history is basically are player’s choice; but here is a sampling that may assist.

Ariana was Aerysticles' Thracian wife, who was tragically taken from him by his most hated enemy, Marcus Julius Aquila. However, her memory is kept alive and honored by her husband, who actually uses it as his inspiration.

As a Prophetess of the Gods, and a priestess of Dionysus, the goddess of wine, ecstasy, and of liberation; and the national god of Thrace, Ariana is religious, vocal, and hardy... Plus she has the ability to foresee the future in dreams, and is therefore wise, intuitive, and psychic. Thracians value the religious authority of women and they consider this to be of great importance by prophecy, making it likely that Ariana is a respected figure.

Ariana was a woman known first through visions. A Thracian prophetess and priestess of Dionysus—the god of ecstasy, madness, and liberation—she walked the boundary between flesh and fate. The gods spoke to her in dreams, and through her, the future bled into the present.

She foresaw Aerysticles before she ever met him, and knew herself to be bound to his path. As his wife, she was his unseen compass, offering counsel drawn not from doctrine, but from omens and fire-lit trance. Though he doubted the gods, they did not doubt him, and they used her voice to reach him.

When Aerysticles chose the Roman road, Ariana dreamt of a red serpent and begged him to turn away. He did not. What followed unfolded as the gods had warned—flight, chains, separation, and silence.

After her capture, Ariana did not vanish. She returned in fragments—dreams, visions, whispered warnings—guiding rebellion from beyond reach. To some, she was dead. To others, dangerous. To Aerysticles, she became more than memory: she was resolve, prophecy given shape.

Whether Ariana lived, died, or became something else is known only to the gods. But her voice endured—carried in dreams, in uprising, and in the belief that freedom is not granted by bloodshed, but born through liberation.
