African hunter on journey to make documentaries about the supernatural world
Congolese huntress Asanyi Uzima has started her quest to make detailed and descriptive documentaries about the supernatural world. When I reached out to her to hear her story and ask her some questions, she was kind enough to prove some useful information over email.

Having grown up a rural part of Congo in a town where people struggled more often than not, Asanyi describes her upbringing as harsh but not unhappy. She recalls being taught about magic and the supernatural by a village elder, which sparked her interest as a young girl. In her words, people all experience the world differently, and we will often be limited by the world-view we grew up with. This is the reason why she is setting off to travel the world and document supernatural life. It is her goal to make information widely accessible to 'further the knowledge shared between hunters'.

Her plan is to make documentaries, recording stories from hunters all over the world as well as tracking down local creatures and recording her encounters with them. In this way, she hopes to show people different stories and experiences that they otherwise might never have encountered. Eventually, Asanyi wants to turn her travels into books so that the knowledge will never get lost or disappear.

When asked about her plans, she explains that she will first travel through her home country of Congo, as she said there are many different cultures to be discovered without crossing the border.
Asanyi: While it is my hope to broaden people's perspectives, I first have to broaden my own. That's why I'm traveling through Congo, to see the differences for myself and find out whatever I can along the way.
She explains that she hopes to find creatures and monsters that may not have been documented before, but she explains that she has another goal as well.
Asanyi: My village may not have been affected by it much, but everyone knows that the world has changed drastically all throughout the ages. I want to see if this has impacted the supernatural as well. To put it simply, I will do what wildlife rangers do, only with supernatural creatures. Instead of stalking a herd of elephants to learn about their habits and their habitats, I'll find monsters.

Essentially, she hopes to map the current situation all across the globe. She brings up the Kraken as an example.
Asanyi: Many people think the Kraken is a mythological creature because nobody has seen one in ages. With the megalodon for example, the explanation for why we know it's extinct despite the oceans being largely unmapped is because scientists say 'they would know if something that big was out there'. Is that the same for the Kraken? Is it truly extinct? I mean to find people who can tell me about it. The Kraken and many other creatures as well.

She finishes her email by saying she hopes the material she records and writes might be useful learning material someday.
Asanyi: Maybe when I've written a book, or several books, I can send you some copies. After all, what good is knowledge if you don't teach it to the hunters of the future?
