I am wiping down the tables with sanitizer after a long breakfast rush hour. It was finally quiet. Soon, I will need to set up for lunch rush. I made some good tips between the two sides, but it would be so much easier as well as more enjoyable if I had someone to work the other side. Someone who was a furry or a crossbreed or half-human. Someone who would be more at ease with other creatures.
I finish up the last of the tables and put the cleaning bucket away before I begin sweeping the floors. The next chore on the list, before prepping, was getting the desserts ready for lunch. The menu needed to be changed- I then thought that since breakfast was always the same each week, perhaps a large menu board on a turning table would be useful. Maybe even a 3-sided one.
As I thought about the menu board and swept the floor, a young female walked inside, causing the doorbell to ring and me to look at the door.
"Hello, miss. How may I serve you today?" I asked.

Kateland walked out of the forest path and right into the city. She walked cautiously, looking about for someplace to eat. Most of the places, she didn't understand what they were for and walked on by. Before long, there was a light, and people were waiting for the moving wagons to clear out of the way. Kateland waited as well and walked when the people walked.
Across the road was a building that had some very good smells coming out of it. She looked into the window and saw a human sweeping the floor. She cautiously went inside to find out if the human was good enough to share some of her food with her.
"Hello... I am new to the village and I am hungry. Do you have any food to spare so that I can eat?" Kateland asked quietly.

Belinda stopped sweeping and looked at the female. The female had a horn in the middle of her forehead and a horse's body.
"Are you a centauress? Do you have any money to buy your food? There is a cost to food in the city, which is where you are. If you are new to the city, do you have a friend or someone to live with? " she asked as she looked at the newcomer.
The newcomer looked tired as well as hungry. A shower would be needed if she were to stay around the cafe. Perhaps she could train her how to work. The cafe didn't get very many customers on the 'creature' side, so it wouldn't be hard on the centauress.

Belinda reached into her pocket and took out some of her tip money out.
"This is money, and you have to do work somewhere to earn money. I'll explain it to you while you eat. I think that there are some sandwiches left.... Stand at the counter, and I will bring you some food. My name is Belinda but you can call me Linda or just Lin."
Belinda took the broom and put it away before she washed her hands. She then went behind the counter and found some sandwiches for Kateland. She placed the sandwiches in front of Kateland who began to eat.
Belinda told Kateland about the job and waited for her response.

"Yes, I will take the job and start tomorrow. I will adjust the dresses so that I can wear them. I am ready to go up to my room now. I don't have any towels but I'll manage somehow." Kateland spoke as she smiled.

"I'll loan you some bedding and towels. The furniture is in the room. Where would you put your tip money and room key at?" Belinda asked as she got the uniforms out of the closet and a package of aprons. There were some samples of hair clips that she gave to Kateland.
"I am in room 1, and you will be in room 2 across the hall from me. You can ask me any questions that you have."
Belinda led Kateland upstairs, which was a bit tricky for Kateland to climb. Kateland quickly got the hang of climbing up the steps.
"Here you go. Your very own apartment is upstairs and I'll show you how to use the shower as well as the stove. I'll go and get the towels and stuff." she spoke quietly and worked quickly for she was running out of time.
"I am in room 1, and you will be in room 2 across the hall from me. You can ask me any questions that you have."
