  • Pokemorphs and the Pokemorph League

[Disclaimer: This takes place in the same universe as the Pokemon GAMES and there will be times that characters may refer to something from the game or have an item from a certain game. Be careful that you don't mistake that world with the show.]

A new technology has taken all the Regions by storm. Sliph Co. the worlds for most manufacturers of Pokemon Pharmaceuticals have created a new Gene therapy for humans called Splicing. For years, scientists of Sliph Co. have been trying to map the Human and Pokemon Genome and now they finally unlocked the power of those strands of DNA. If a person has the money and the inclination, they can have their DNA fused with that of a Pokemon’s. The process is painful at first, the bones, muscles and the very genetic makeup of their bodies shifting and offering room for the new genetic code. When the process is finished the patient is neither Pokemon nor Human, but a perfect blend of the two. The treatment is popular with younger people, who are more accepting of newer things, and the prospect of having the powers of their favorite Pokemon. The older generation and some other people of interest think that the process is an abomination, and should be made illegal. However, with the treatment being safe, with little to no adverse side effects, there are no grounds for doing so.

As safe as the Therapy is it had brought up a large problem, could people catch these people, seeing as their genetic codes now had a Pokemon’s own inside them? Could these Anthropomorphic Pokemon or Pokemorphs as they were normally called, enter the Pokemon League?

The answers came in the form of new laws regarding the Pokemorphs. The law stated that the Pokemorphs had all the same rights as Humans and there for cannot be forced into being ‘caught’ or pressed into any kind of slavery. The Pokemon League, however, stated that Pokemorphs could not enter the Tournament as they were still Human beings, they however could still enter ‘feral’ Pokemon into the tournament as normal. Many Pokemorphs however after their transformations feel it is wrong to catch their now genetic cousins and make them fight for their amusement and want.

The Pokemon League itself stumbled upon the answer. Many Pokemorphs after an amount of training have learned to control their new body’s powers, and they have taken to testing their powers against one another, like with Trainers and their parties. They proposed that in light of the Pokemorphs’ want to test themselves that they create an Organization that will let them do it in safety, with structure and without harming the general public.

The new organization is called the Pokemorph League. Like the Pokemon League, the Pokemorphs will have to travel around their respective regions and battle in eight gyms, earning badges from each to show that they are ready for the highest level of competition. Unlike the Pokemon League, however they can only bring their personal skill and strength. The Battles are between the Master of the Gym, a Pokemorph of exceptional strength, and a single challenger. They both battle each other until ether one gives up or unable to fight back. The rules are similar to Human Martial Arts tournaments. Upon winning, the Pokemorph earns a Badge from the master, showing he has defeated that person in combat. Upon losing the Gym Leader makes sure that the opponent is mostly unharmed and the gym pays for any medical treatment needed.
