Bakeneko

Bakeneko is generally a drunken fool of a cat yokai, his tail almost always curled around a bottle of something alcoholic. He's often sleepy, his speech slurs terribly to the point that his speech is incomprehensible at times, and he'll pass out just about anywhere and sleep like a log there for hours. When he's not completely inebriated, he actually proves to be quite intelligent... though he's a total lazy-ass when it comes to getting things done or just doing a whole lot in particular.

He is also a total mooch, often meowing and being demanding of others to give him attention, though he will often beg others to provide him with food and drink. Barkeeps and bartenders can't stand him, cat-lovers think he's adorable, fishermen would prefer he stay away from their catches, and farmers simply don't care, often giving him a bowl of fresh milk or cream when he visits.

As for appearances, he often takes the form of a dark grey medium-haired housecat with dark brown markings arranged in a classic tabby fashion. His eyes are a light greyish-green, his underbelly and paws are a lighter grey, and his ears are tipped with a dark natural red. He also sports a green collar with a bronze-coloured bell on it on his neck, but as to whom he may have been owned by in the past, he won't bother to say (though he will often state that the collar is quite the fashion accessory). Any other appearance he takes on would be that of either a human (of any form he wants, although his collar remains) or an anthropomorphic version of himself. In the majority of cases, his housecat form will have only one tail, though there have been a few instances where his second tail has been visible. And if he's in his human form... just shine a light in his direction and look at the shadow he produces. He should be casting a shadow in the shape of a cat walking on two legs. It's a dead giveaway as to his true identity. Giving him a napkin or washcloth in his housecat form tends to produce interesting results, especially if he's also drunk at the time. He will usually put it on his head, then stand up on his hind legs and begin to dance, which can often prove to be entertaining.

Despite the boost in intelligence caused by his transformation from regular cat into yokai, he cannot figure out how to remove his collar even in human or anthropomorphic form. Not that he minds for the latter, but for the former, it makes identification of him regardless of disguise far easier than it should be.

Bakeneko's real name is Patches, but it's not likely that he'll divulge such information freely. Generally when he is asked for his name, he will dodge the question, though he has been known to occasionally answer with either 'Bakeneko' or 'Whiskers'.
