Damn, I found a RP community that is alive completely by accident! How lucky can I be? I was just searching "how to roleplay X" on Google and noticed... Wait, this discussion is recent! Those posts are from 2022!
Haha! Hello there! I'm Gatan (as you can doubtlessly see). I have been roleplaying for seven years, and joined tabletop roleplay about four years ago, two of which I have been playing as a Game Master. I have dabbled in MMO roleplaying too, but this is still a very recent thing for me and I can't say if I'm enjoying it or not. I do 1x1 rarely but it works too.
My average reply length is about one paragraph or less, give or take. Depends on the scene tbh. I'm not comfortable with "novel" RPing, but I may one-line.
I have no preference towards either dice or diceless roleplay, but I tend towards the extremes: If we're going to use dice, then I want a full infrastructure with skill systems and a combat system and etc to boot (unless it's PbtA or something similar in execution). If we're not using dice, then I would rather go totally diceless over "roll 1000 twice and whoever rolls higher hits". Basically, if there is a mechanical structure but it's not to my taste, I would rather not use dice at all.
My favourite genres are medieval fantasy and dark fantasy, but I'm willing to stretch with more or less comfort towards other genres. Sometimes I'll pick something that is supernatural/urban. I've tested and I'll most surely not like "school" RPs (magical internates, samurai schools, superpower academies, lovey-dokey universities, you name it) but feel free to call me for whatever. You have a "no", you can get a "yes".
The way I prefer playing is different depending on if there is a small traditional "party" with a GM or it's a big fiesta with 20 or more characters on the same game where the game mod drops in once in a blue moon. But in both cases I'll have a focus on inter-character drama. I'm also likely to discuss character creation together before the game starts to set dynamics, backstories and such.
In GNS theory, I consider myself a Simulationist.
As a Brazilian, I speak both English and Portuguese. My timezone is UTC -5.
