Near
If there is a character you're interested but the technology/time setting doesn't match. I have a pretty good idea how my characters will be in any setting; backstories can be tweaked to fit desired settings (I'm not a fan in outer-space settings though.).
Inquiring minds want to know why we too should befriend Near!
