Galatea is a master of both alteration and conjuration, and so sacrifices armour usage in return for ease of casting. Due to her blindness, she is unable to wield physical weaponry effectively and so veers away from the front lines. Galatea's affinity for magicka means that she perceives the world similarly to that of a serpent, and is remarkably sensitive to the slightest change in ambient magic.
Silver-blonde hair falls to the waist of a lithe figure, complimenting a pale, blue-blushed complexion and often breezing across clouded, sightless eyes. A sombre face is accented with pale eyelashes and a vacant expression, set with blind eyes tinted with hazy evidence that they might have once been coloured a gentle blue. Faint scars paint their way across her nose and cheekbones, settling into the curves of her eyelids and blending into the subtle glow of her translucent skin. An array of pale colours paints a picture derived from both of her parents, borrowing both the subtle golds of the Altmer and the haunting blue hues of the Falmer.
Galatea's voice is laced with liquid silk, sincere and melodic to listeners. Her eyes - though sightless - portray kindness and wisdom, translated into the gentle and narrative words which leave her cold lips. Perhaps contrasting against the stigma of her motherkind, the Mer is selfless and generous, offering guidance and teachings to even the most frightful and misunderstood of creatures. For she cannot see as others see, and so cannot judge. Though many perceive her as level-headed and unmoving, changes in environment and the unbalancing of magicka can cause great distress.

Irithi, Galatea's mother, was an Altmer and former resident of Solitude. She fled to the remote settlement of Winterhold following her unlikely pairing with Lerenor, a Paladin of The Chantry of Auri-El and one of the few remaining Snow Elves within Skyrim. Fearful of the backlash she would receive following the birth of a mixed-Mer child, Irithi perceived Dawnstar as a sanctuary, and so birthed Galatea on the night of Loredas amidst a violent snowstorm.
A gentle birth it was, but it was long before the pale elf finally opened her eyes. Concerns for the strange scarring on her eyelids proved realistic, for Galatea's combined heritage had rendered her completely blind.
Desperate and forlorn, the mother crossed the bridge to The College of Winterhold, seeking a solution to her young daughter's blight. The Archmage was fascinated by Galatea's peculiarities, though explained that magic alone would not bear her the gift of sight. However, he soon instead took notice of the way in which Galatea's supposedly sightless eyes followed the movement of magicka-infused objects, transfixed especially on the production of soul gems and the like. It was concluded eventually that Galatea could see, but not in a way alike others. Her odd affinity for magicka was a staple in her development, and her skills in perception only sharpened further with age. Her growing was supervised by the Archmage himself, and the continued teachings led her to become one of the most renowned mages in Tamriel, known for her exceptional abilities in casting and her peculiar dream sequences.
Galatea's skills in conjuration and alteration have extended far, and her atronach and magelight summonings are nigh perfect. She has resided amongst the college for many years, settling as both scholar and teacher.
Her mother, Irithi, passed away in the year before the present. The location of her father is unknown to her.
