Character and Personality

Gone through the tough school of a life in the streets and among a society beyond legal laws Garrett exhibits a strong sense of survival-instinct and self-interest and is deeply averse from relying on others for anything.
On the surface he might appear sinister, callous and cynical with loyalty only to himself, treating new people with anything from curt mistrust to outright hostility and in general displaying a pretty distant, taciturn, withdrawn even sullen demeanor especially with strangers.
Yet despite this he in fact does care for those – admittedly few – close to him and even with strangers he now and then cannot help himself but offer a helping hand if the situation seems desperate and the cause just.
Those who are able to gain a little more access will notice that beneath all this gloom he is a rather sensible personality even showing a sense of humor, though a pretty dark and dry, sarcastic one based on his wry approach to life.
Though he might not speak out often, in the rare cases he does his words tend to harbor a distinct profundity and are marked by a deep believe in his own, surely slightly twisted principles which define his definition of “work ethics”.
Garrett has three major rules, which he adamantly tries to stick to, not always without challenge though:
* don't trust anyone
* work alone
* never kill (at least try to)- saying he’s a thief, not a murderer.
Garrett could be considered a consummate professional.
He is solely devoted to his profession, spending all his time and effort honing his skills as a thief into an art.
For Garrett, thievery is a form of freedom from the bonds of society and law. It is a central part of his identity.
He steals because he's the best there is and he is well aware of this fact and values his professional reputation. Therefore he rather often turns down jobs, even well paid ones, if he deemes them too easy and unsatisfying.
On the other side though he will purse tasks without commission if tempted with an alluring, at best unique challenge.
He views himself as a devoted thief and refuses to be something he perceives as lesser, be it an assassin or a grave robber. He finds needless death or collateral damage pragmatically abhorrent, viewing it as unprofessional and attracting too much undesired attention to his job. -
Description
Physical Appearance and Attire
Garrett is a slender and wiry male of average height. His facial feature can be described as hawkish even gaunt with rather full lips and usually sporting a hint of a three-day stubble.
He has a lithe and graceful body with long, elegant hands and slender, adroit fingers .
His natural eye color is dark brown however his right eye is covered by a layer of pale, white scar-tissue and thus blind. Furthermore the right side of his face is marked by a cluster of several scars he gained when caught in an explosion - one of them is splitting his eyebrow and marking the wound which was responsible for his blind eye.
His paleness caused by his almost entirely nocturnal lifestyle is even more emphasized by the coal camouflage round his eyes he wears to distort the little bit what´s visible of his face when dressed in full "working attire".
When he is out prowling the rooftops Garrett wears a custom-tailored, mostly black attire of his own design. It is made of soft leather and thick, robust fabric in order to muffle the sound of his movements while also providing minor protection against injury. Attached to the top is a huge, black, leather hood and a mask made of soft, black fabric - both serving to conceal his identity and also to enable him to blend in with the shadows.
His deliberately tattetered cloak serves the same purpuse as the ragged, calf-lengt piece of black cloth helps break to up his human form and thus blend in with his nocturnal surroundings.
Fingerless, black gloves allow his nimble hands to operate without the hindrance and yet provide a minimum of protection.

Skills and Equipment
Garret is majorly skilled in the arts of thievery, pick-pocketing, stealth, infiltration and escape tactics like free running.
Utilizing shadows and darkness as his hiding spots is his preferred method to avoid detection. Becoming almost a shadow himself and close to completly unnoticabel to others when hen silently tiptoes his way through an environment, darting from shadow to shadow without making any sound.
The Claw a self-made grappling device with hooks and an attached rope helps him to reach even otherwise inaccessable places.
The wooden blackjack he always carries with him is mainly used to secretly knock out and pacify possible disruptive elements like guards or nosy civilians.
However though he can handle himself in a fight rather decently he preferes to avoid direct, open face-to-face approach as not at least to his light and and slender frame he can be overwhelmed rather easily by bigger opponents or if he is outnumbered.
Furthermore he is a skilled marksman and wields a mechanical compound bow. Yet it is hardly used for killing rather to adjust his environment in his favor - in order to do so he uses a vast array of arrows like water arrows, fire arrows, rope arrows ect…
Garret is an addept and accomplished observer and plotter who has an eye for even the tiniest details and is able to assess a situation and develop a plan of action on the go and the shortes of time.
Though never having seen the inside of as school-building he is rather streetwise, highly intelligent and equipped with a quick mind - further he has taught himself a wide knowhow in the fields of mechanical manufacturing, arts and crafts, antiques and architecture.
