  Being the world’s strongest dragon, he is a powerful and dangerous foe who can use use the same elements Spyro can but to their maximum potential. He also possesses other abilities that Spyro has yet to obtain. Though superior to the Magic Crafters & Dream Weavers, he is by far less powerful than the Ancients and Azarik.

• Backstory

  Long ago in Ancient Times there was chaos and disharmony between the races of Dragons and Humans, a conflict so bloody that everyday dozens of soldiers died on both sides. Then one fateful day a miracle happened, and the prophecy was fulfilled and the Purple Dragon was born! A rare and powerful dragon destined to bring peace and order to both dragons and humans alike.
  
  But sometimes things… don’t go according to plan. As Beltran grew older on the farm surrounded by total war, he was one day contacted by the then Dragon King; Bellnax. He was sent to the Dragon Academy to learn magic and how to fight in close combat.
  
  Over the next few years Beltran grew stronger in his various teachings, and Beltran fulfilled the prophecy by negotiating peace between the two clans at war with each other. And then he was hailed a hero, and a coronation was held for him to become the fifth Dragon King.
  
  Fast forward a year, Bellnax was growing weak and sick, and was dying of old age.. At this point in time, Beltran was loved and respected by all other dragons. However, there was anger and resentment within his heart as he harbored a grudge against all Non-Dragons.
  
  Time passed and the darkness and anger with Beltran’s heart grew louder and louder until he snapped one day at his friend Zaria, who would later become The Sorceress. He had then decided that that nothing would ever stop him in his quest to become all-powerful and omnipotent. And researched for a way to make his wildest dreams come true.. Only then, he found a book on Forbidden Magic Spells and another on Lost Objects. He then began to search for the legendary Rod of Mephisto, said to hold great power.
  
  Eventually he found the Rod, and hid it away in his chambers so none would find out about it. And later that same day, Beltran made an argument argued with Zaria now called The Sorceress, after he found her sitting on his throne one day, and angrily told her to get off it, to which prompted her to banish all the Dragons to another world entirely.
  
  Once it was discovered what had happened.. the ones Beltran once called allies rose up against him and locked him up deep underground to be punished.
  
  Thousands of years went by, and well.. History became Legend, and Legend became Myth as Dragons spread lies and propaganda making Beltran seem like the Ultimate Evil. They now referred to him as Malefor. By the time of Gnasty Gnorc, Malefor was long forgotten by the world.
  
  But.. no one had heard the last of Malefor. He longed for his return to the surface world above, he had been driven insane by that point and was now nihilistic and bloodthirsty for revenge.
  
  He was relived when a small and diminutive sorcerer had accidentally freed him while trying to find a spell to get rid of Spyro. What Ripto wasn’t expecting is that he had summoned Malefor, the most evil dragon ever to exist.

  Malefor seeks to bring back the Old Ways of dragon society, to benefit the beings he once called brothers and sisters. His wishes are for dragons to once again rule the world.
