    A cold winter morning. The streets of Daejeon, South Korea are cover in white snow shimmering under the January sun. A young woman giving up her newborn son for adoption. Fast forward three years; the young boy travelled to the other side of the world. Adopted by an american couple in Brentwood, New York. Welcomed into a home full of love and care. He was treasured and spoiled. Loved at home; Loved in school. He was the schools it-boy; the quarterback. Social and extroverted; one of the popular jocks. Patient and calm; a good mindset under pressure.

    16 years old; he was a junior falling in love with a freshman, Melanie. They became high school sweetheart; clinging to each others’ sides, never apart. Senior year; getting ready for college, but a new obstacle occurred. A positive pregnancy test turned their world upside down. Eric was only 18, Melanie was only 16. Young and afraid, they sought their parents’ help. Honesty first always; no need to try and hide it. Disappointed parents and long lectures about uncomfortable topics. The two families met to discuss the details; two different views on the situation. Melanie’s parents chose to pull her out of school and move to another city; parting the young couple, not wanting any contact between them anymore. No place to compromise; they had made a choice.

    December 6th 2013; a phonecall from Melanie. She had a son. Eric stopped what he was doing, rushed to the hospital to meet his son; even if her parents wouldn’t allow it. Falling in love at first sight; promising himself that he would do anything for the little boy with the big brown eyes; Joshua. Dropping out of college to work fulltime; earning money to be able to support his son. Always taking responsibility. Hired as security guard at a hotel in town; he needed money and they payed well. Even if he couldn’t see his son now, he would fight for him. Stubborn; strong will. One day they would be reunited. And they was: 2017; Melanie finally moved out of her parents’ place, moving to New York City. And so did Eric. Getting a place together, yet after four years apart the spark between them had disappeared. On the hunt for a place of his own and a new job in the big city. Getting hired as a bodyguard, finding an apartment, getting his son back; suddenly his life starting to go in his favour once again.
