• Biography

  Pastor Isaac Donovan was a child prodigy. He and his siblings were raised in a remote town in Iowa, by devoted Christian parents. His parents thought that they were unable to have children, and immediately saw Isaac as 'a miracle from God', as he is the oldest of three siblings. According to their local minister, Isaac seemed to have a 'strong connection' with God and was able to walk, speak and read long before his peers. He had excellent grades in school and served in the Church in his spare time, turning up every Sunday morning to help preparing for the Sunday mass. As he grew older, he got increasingly more involved with the Church.
  Therefore, it was no surprise that Isaac was accepted to a missionary program when he turned 19. After intense training, he and a number of other peers were sent to a village in Rwanda to spread the message and help the locals. Isaac had great expectations for the missionary program, and many in the Church had great expectations of what he would do.
  However, the village turned out to be nothing like Isaac had been told. The missionaries were unable to make any difference, being completely unaware of the massive social problems before they had arrived - although Isaac did his best to keep up his faith. Everything took a turn for the worse when the civil war and violence broke out and Isaac saw horrors that made him question God's existence. The missionary group only barely escaped and they made an agreement about lying to their superiors.
  
  Back home, having received enormous praise for his time in Rwanda, Isaac managed to finish his studies and was ordained as a priest. He started to serve in his local community, but he could not forget the horrors he had seen during his mission. Despite being a respected pastor and getting engaged with his childhood sweetheart, having everything he had dreamt of, Isaac felt like a fraud. After a few years, Isaac had a breakdown. He broke off the engagement and left with only a note to his friends and family - and his church.
  
  No one had any trace of him the next few years. He had more or less disappeared. Isaac began to struggle with alcohol abuse and got involved in various religious groups, as well as travelling around to different megachurches, in order to 'regain his faith' and keep himself from falling apart. He self-medicated a lot and constantly went around different sources - whether that was alcohol, smoking, sex or drugs. He felt lost and was desperately searching for a way to gain back his pride, and his faith.
  
  Shortly after his 27th birthday, he was travelling through a small town and saw that the local church were searching for a new pastor, since the old one had passed away. Isaac decided to apply, and the church almost immediately accepted him - ecstatic about the prospect of a young, charismatic man as their local pastor. Perhaps a man that could turn things around and give the local religious community a new, fresh start.

  Isaac is extremely well-mannered and come off as a very sympathetic guy, that carefully listens to whatever you have to say and give thoughtful responses. He is usually very approachable and has a calm attitude. He is generally great at befriending new people and bring people together, and he has a way of getting what he wants. He has been used to that for most of his life, but his charm and charisma definitely help him achieve it.
  
  When Isaac is preaching, there is a glimpse of the passion he also carries. He is great at involving people under Sunday masses and make them feel engaged. While this may or may not be more as a result of his training and the years of watching leaders in sects and preachers in large churches, and not as much about his own personal faith, then Isaac does deliver what the listeners want.
  
  Isaac genuinely enjoys listening to people and helping them with their burdens and troubles, but he is more of a private guy himself. He does not talk about his past much, other than very vague statements, and while he does take part in the community, it is more to involve other people than getting new close friends. In fact, he does not have that many, at least not in the area. He never touches alcohol and only once in a while accepts private invitations.
