Tara Faolan

Tara is a warrior with obvious origins in the colder reaches of the world. She wears a black burlap cloak that's tattered at the end, fur-brimmed at her shoulders and held to her form by an iron brooch with a pin that resembles a small knife. Under that cloak is a dull blue doublet layered over a riveted chainmail byrnie. Said chainmail is worn over a gray linen tunic and brown woolen pants. Between her physique and her armor its difficult to tell even up close that she's a woman; as her face is largely square, stern and usually covered spectacled helmet (The rest of her head and neck is protected by a mail coif). Other than her voice the only indication of her gender is in her eyes; not as sunken in as your average male's, they're round and expressive. Her chin is strong but her jawline is narrow, her mouth thin and nose boringly average; over all these features are freckles and, occasionally, sunburn. To avoid some degree of chafing she also wears a pair of nondescript leather gloves.

This warrior lives on the road and so keeps her belongings with her at all times. There are multiple sheathes on her belt but most of said belongings reside in her backpack, usually but not always over her cloak. One sheathe rests on her left hip and sports a longsword of style and craft well beyond her own wealth; it is sturdy, clean and assuredly vorpal. The other sheathe is on her right hip, smaller and carrying a humble hunting knife. There is a holster for a plain waterskin positioned near the hunting knife (whether or not it contains water depends both on her luck and where she is).

She possesses a large round shield with leather straps for carrying on her back but when out traveling, even when not in obvious danger Tara will hold it in her left hand. It is plain but its front is painted cobalt, with black decorations of waves and ships spinning around its boss.
