Valder Odanar

NAME: Sir Valder Odanar the Stout, First of his name, Breaker of Sieges and the Bane of Goblins
Born as the fourth child of a family of seven children, Valder comes from a long line of Odanars. It is a respected house, and as a knight Valder received many titles. The sigil of house Odanar is a purple coloured Jackalope on a field of white.

GENDER: Male
Even though female Dwarves are capable of growing a beard, Valder's voice is enough of an indication of his masculinity.

RACE: Shield Dwarf
Shield dwarves are among the most common of the dwarven peoples. Once the rulers of mighty kingdoms across Faerûn, the shield dwarves have since fallen by the wayside after centuries of warfare with their goblinoid enemies.

The shield dwarves are on average half a foot taller than other dwarves. They are the most common dwarf in the north of Faerûn. Most males and even some females have large beards and moustaches. The females are slightly shorter and less heavy than the males. Shield dwarves are a cynical and gruff people, but they are, despite a reputation to the contrary, fatalistic, still possessing some hope for the future. Typically, shield dwarves take time to trust and even longer to forgive but the dwindling of their race has led many to be more open to other ways of thinking.

DEITY: Moradin
Moradin is one of the most influential Dwarven deities out there. Considered to be a harsh but fair judge, he was strength and force combined. Moradin inspired Dwarven inventions and encourages good nature, intelligence and harmonious existence with other races. He is the prime deity called upon when fighting evil.

Though Valder is by no means a zealous believer, he believes Moradin to be an example of how Dwarves should stride to be. He lives by the example Moradin set, though he does not always succeed at such, though he's faithful that his deity will give props for trying.

CLASS: Fighter (Disgraced knight)
The Fighter is a versatile combatant who is able to actively disrupt the activities of his enemies. Fighters represent plucky heroes and grizzled veterans, but they always appear to surmount impossible odds. Which means in retrospect that the odds weren't all that impossible. At least, not for someone with a Fighter's talents.

Being a knight Valder has had rigorous training in combat, warfare and how to stay alive in a fight, all while learning the chivalry and honour behind each act. And though the other nobles conspired to get him disgraced, Valder still knows chivalry. He wishes to travel the world and regain his lost honour somehow, for honour is everything to a knight.

BUILD: Broad
Like all Dwarves, Valder is a very broad man for his height. Not to mention he's very muscled, though around his belly he's been gaining quite some weight, which is luckily invisible underneath his armour. As a Shield Dwarf he stands a bit taller than any other Dwarf at 1 meter 48.

AGE: 141 years old
Dwarves are considered fully mature at the age of 50. Valder has been learning his trade for a while now. Though not exactly an elder, he's considered at an age where he ought to think of settling down and have children. Dwarves can reach up 350 years in age.

HAIR: Dark red/brown
Valder has long and thick hair which he ties into a thick braid and hangs over his back nearly reaching his lower back. His beard is groomed very neatly and his large moustache is groomed and braided just like his hair, held together with two rune engraved rings of steel.

SKIN: Lightly tanned
Having spent most of his days inside the mountains, Valder never got much sun in his skin. However, since he started travelling it has adapted ever so slightly.

EYES: Blue
Valder's eyes are the colour of sapphire, or so they say. To him his eyes are pretty normal looking, but some claim that there's white specks in his irises.

ALLIGNMENT: Neutral good
As a knight Valder is supposed to uphold all that is good, slay all that is evil and protect the weak from said evil. It is a life that suits him well. However, he was never one for strict rules and pleasantries. To them they're just there to waste his time. No, Valder is a man of action. Even though his actions are not always "knightly", he is still a knight at heart, meaning only the best for those he seeks to aid. He keeps his tenets close at heart, though conveniently forgets them when they stand in his way.

PERSONALITY: Open-hearted, crude, brutally honest
Valder is a social drinker, a mighty boaster and loves meeting people who he can call his friends, though it takes a while for him to consider anyone a close friend. He's quite coy, keen on making dirty jokes like a peasant and yelling obscenities to make his foes uncomfortable. But he's reliable. Valder only acts like he'd want people to be towards him. In battle he is merciless, yet has a certain grace when it comes to fighting. There was still something the knights managed to teach him after all.


The Shield Dwarf stands proud. His armour is sturdy looking and shiny. His breastplate is made of pure steel, over which hangs the sigil of House Odanar; the purple Jackalope on a field of white that covers most of his torso and stomach region. Around the Dwarf's thick arms chainmail can be seen as well as leather straps to keep it all together. His gloves are also made of chainmail with a steel plate on top of his hands with House Odanar's sigil carved in. His shoulder guards are very large and allow for flexible movements with his arms. His leggings are made mainly of thick leather with a chainmail skirt covering him down to his knees. His boots are also made of tempered steel.

Valder's face is quite comely for a Dwarf. He has pretty eyes and very little scars, except for a small on his right cheek which is beard covers for the most part. His lips are thick and his nose is very large like that of any Dwarf. He has a very rugged look.

The rest of his body is hairy and very muscled thanks to a lifetime of training. However, being gluttonous he has grown quite a large belly, which is armour luckily manages to cover up well for the most part.
