Areeak of Northborrow

This character is a Witcher based off of The Witcher franchise, but does not strictly follow the lore of Witcher so he can be molded into other rps, and for me to not worry about me having every lore detail as correct as possible

Many people have made up their minds about Witchers. Throught history their kind has been reviled as outcast to society. Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives

But like most fairy tales and rumors, there is little truth and the stories that have been sewn.

Areeak is one such Witcher. He was born out of wedlock and with no Father, and a bastard to society, was quickly shoved to a orphanage. Little is known of Areeaks background before being taken by the Witchers. He was only about 4 years of age when his training begun. Areeak was trained in the school of the Bear, and was often at the castle of Kear Morhen for his training. Though he was taught exstinsivly in fighting and magic, Witchers are not just capable in sword fighting, they must undergo harmful mutations to their bodies to fully become a Witcher. When Areeak was of age, he had to pass the Trail of Grasses, the most painful and deadliest part of becoming a Witcher, where the mutugens are introduced to their bodies, and can take almost a whole week to process. 4 out of 10 children are expected to live through the trail.

On the third day of the trail all the children died save one, Areeak who was barely 10. Hitherto agitated by a sudden madness, he fell at once into a deep stupor. His eyes took on a glassy gaze, incessantly with his hands did he clutch at clothing, or brandish them in the air as if desirous of catching a quill. His breathing grew loud and hoarse; sweat cold, clammy and malodorous appeared on his skin. Then he was once more given elixir through the vein and the seizure it did return. This time a nose-bleed ensued, coughing turned to vomiting, after which Areeak weakened entirely and became inert.
For two days more did symptoms not subside. The child's skin, hitherto drenched in sweat, grew dry and hot, the pulse ceased to be full and firm — albeit remaining of average strength, slow rather than fast. No more did he wake, nor did he scream.

Finally, came the seventh day. Areeak awoke and opened his eyes, and his eyes were those of a viper.

Despite his sever symptoms, Areeak took the mutations exceptionally well, and was used to undergo further mutations, which he also lived through, but at the cost of the pigment in his body, turning his hair ashen and his skin pale.

Years passed and Areeak was finally a full blooded Witcher, already taking contracts at 17 years of age. For Areeak, life was a simple cycle, wake up, kill monsters, go to sleep. To most this would would sound like a great adventure but it was his job. Although as time grew, public opinions where becoming worse to the Witchers. Mundane humans saw them as a threat to society, and just brought death with them. Despite needing Witchers to help keep them safe from monsters and ghouls, they where resentful of their kind. One day, their hatred rose to a boiling point, and an attack in the castle Kear Morhen began.

No human would have ever breached the front gates, had it not been for the aid of powerful sourcers. Within less then a day the castle came under siege, and all Witchers within the walls fell in battle. The only ones who survived where those who were not present during the battle.

Areeak was one such Witcher. When he returned to the castle, he found it laid in ruin, all those he knew where dead, and only a few of his kind now remained. After this day Areeak grew a resentment to humans, but he has to tolerate them for it is his job to help them

And they need help now more then ever, after they killed all the Witchers, monsters are more and more rampant across the lands, and only few Witchers are left to help sort things out.

Areeak takes a liking to dwarves and elves, for they share cruel treatment from humans, but his kindness and good heart stretches very thin, after his many years of mistreatment. People say Witchers are devoid of emotion, and that is anything but true, but after everything a Witcher goes through, it is a necessity to portray themselves as such.

Areaak as grown used to solitude, as no one wants to be in company of a Witcher. His time is spent wondering the continent, searching for contracts and helping slay monsters for coin. Wherever he goes, he is hated, but needed. Such is the life that he lives, and it no longer bothers him so much and he is always ready to face the next opposition, so admits the tumult, should you ever be in need of a beast slain or a ghoul exercised from your house, you just need to look for the ashen hair man, and have your coin ready

Sterility (which partially explains selection from the outsiders, as they cannot breed to pass on their traits).

Cat-like eyes that grant very acute nightvision - witchers can constrict their pupils to see in blinding light or open them to see in near pitch darkness. This nightvision can be further enhanced with the cat potion, but in general, it is good enough by itself to not require further enhancement. Their entire sensory system is overall enhanced, allowing them to identify the species of animal from the scent of their blood, and detect nearby beings even when out of sight.

Tremendous resistance to disease (which functions in most cases as complete immunity) and a boosted immune system, allowing them to consume large quantities of potions that could prove easily deadly if consumed even in small amounts by a normal man.

Exceptionally increased strength, speed, reflexes, and endurance, far beyond any normal or well-trained human, that allows them to swiftly end fights with minimal effort, and perform physical feats non-witchers couldn't hope to match. A witcher's physical skills alone are sufficient to defeat most monsters single-handedly if combined with extensive training and proper weaponry, whereas regular men could only hope to accomplish this in large groups. Witchers have also been shown to shrug off hits that would normally render normal men unconscious. Additionally, they have been known to survive the strikes of powerful monsters such as giants, or other beings possessing herculean strength, that would otherwise kill others with a single blow.

Having the ability to perform simple yet incredibly versatile combat magic in the form of signs. They also develop a sixth sense that allows them to "feel" things around them, be it items of importance or people's immediate intentions. This explains their uncanny ability to track and hunt people and monsters.

Accelerated healing granting quick recovery from injuries.

Incredibly long lifespan and prolonged youth

Though they cover proficiency in basically any weapon that comes to hand, a witcher's training focuses on two primary tools:

The Steel sword, and a Silver Sword

These swords are typically carried on the back. A steel blade used for more mundane beings, while a silver blade for beasts of the supernatural. Witchers are also frequent mixers and users of powerful potions, having developed an advanced tolerance to their inherent toxicity, but still limited to a few at a time (even one of their weaker brews would be fatal to an ordinary human). Finally, their formal magical training deals with signs, a low-level yet versatile form of magic that allows witchers to cast spells and enchantments with simple hand gestures. Without extensive improvement and practice, these are mere tricks compared to what a sorceress can do, but they serve very well for someone with a sword in one hand to add a variety of improvisation to their efforts. Also, the more powerful magic used by mages often takes a lot of time to prepare while all signs are instantaneous. Additionally, witchers are trained by seasoned mages in how to use these signs to the best effect.

In general, a witcher is a formidable and often overwhelming opponent to more mundane races thanks to their superhuman physical prowess, regenerative capabilities, and magic. However, they are not infallible, as they can still make mistakes, take a misstep in battle against mundane men or supernatural demons, or be overwhelmed by sheer numbers and individuals who have the skill to match a witcher, though rare is the individual who managed to slay a witcher out of skill rather than dumb luck or by ambush.

Though a witcher's eyes are one way to stick out, another standard means of identification is the witcher medallion. This device aids in the detection of monsters, and no witcher would part with one willingly. The medallion vibrates and is attracted to any form of magic, which most monsters generate themselves, however it has faults, for it wouldn't detect a high level vampire, or might vibrate excessively in large cities where there may be magic items and users everywhere. The form of an individual medallion (head of a wolf, cat, griffin, etc.) indicates the school at which its owner was trained.

Areeak stands at about 6'5, with long ashen hair, usually loose or tied back, and a short beard same color as his hair. His body is covered in may scars from his man battles through his years, one such scar is seen across his left eye. Areeaks eyed are orange and cat like due to his mutations. Areeak speaks in a husky and blunt tone. He often wears Ursine Armor, a heavy leather armor covering most of his body. He is over the age of 100, but still looks in his mid 20s

Aard: This sign allows Areeak to force enemies back by manipulating kinetic energy. Its alternate form is an area of effect blast of energy that pushes everyone around Areaak away. Excellent when he needs some breathing room.

Yrden: A magical trap placed on the ground, which will wound and immobilize opponents.

Igni : a gush of flames that wounds opponents. It can also be used to detonate flammable gases emitted by some bombs.

Quen: A protective shield that lasts for about 30 seconds. It is a sign that Areeak uses on himself – quen absorbs all damage directed at Areeak, While quen is in effect, Areeak can not use any other signs

Axii : A charm placed on an opponent. If the charm attempt is successful, the enemy will become Areeak's ally for a short while, fighting at his side, or be willing to give information and conform to Areeaks needs
