    Home Life During Childhood: Sylvan's home life was pretty average. A caring mother, a quiet and generally well meaning father, and part of a trio of triplets who were all very close. Alessandra worked from home catering and Dante was a history teacher at a secondary school. They weren't extremely well off, but the triplets rarely wanted for anything. All in all, a rather safe haven for Sylvan.

    Virtues
    Cool as a Cucumber - When things get sticky, Sylvan has a cool, calm head on his shoulders and has a rather linear thought process. This helps him figure out a line of action. If he's at point A and needs to get to point F he will sit and figure out how to reach B, C, D and E first rather than jumping straight to F. It's very hard to ruffle Sylvan's feathers and get him worked up due to the fact that most of the time, he is able to turn himself off, so to speak, and go on autopilot until he's able to internally process whatever problem he's dealing with caused by the outside world.
    This is also due to the fact that he takes most things easily and goes with the flow - not much surprises him and he tries to be as open and accepting as possible due to his own issues with being transgender. If he wants acceptance, who is he to deny the acceptance that others request? Within reason, of course.
    This does not mean that there's no reaction from him at all. He's not some robot that can't express or be surprised or angry. However, it's very hard to get him outwardly excited or upset and thus far there are only a few things that can get him to break his calm exterior. These generally involve his physical transition or his family.

    Cooperative - It's not incredibly hard, if Sylv likes you, to get him to help you out provided it does not go against his own moral code (and he does, very much, have his own moral code). Much the same, he follows a chain of command very well, even when things do not go his way. Big fish and little fish is nothing foreign to the boy, and he's quite aware that most of the time, he will be the little fish. He takes this as a part of life and with a grain of salt. If it's required of him, he will generally go along with it with little fuss. Most of the time. See: Stubborn.

    Dependable - Did Sylvan tell you that he'd be there at six in the evening with a tub of ice cream and chick flicks movies in order to take your mind off some horrible occurrence? You can bet damn well, even if he hates chick flicks, that he will be there at 6:00 with that tub of Rocky Road and Titanic. Sylvan does not give his word lightly and thinks about what he does very carefully. If he's told you he's going to do something, he will do it. Even at the risk of his own self. We don't yet know if this is a lack of self preservation or just plain stupidity, but at least you know if you're hanging off a ten story building and somehow manage to call him for help, he'll be there trying to drag your ass up to safety if it's within his ability to do so.


    Flaws

    Stubborn - If Sylvan does not want to hear you, he will not listen. It's kind of like talking to a damn tree, actually. If he does not want to move, you better be bigger than he is, have a friend, or own a fork-lift. If he doesn't want to talk to you, no amount of “Come on, Sylv!” and “The silent treatment is LAME, dude.” will get him to open his gob. Plainly put: Sylvan doesn't do what he really doesn't want to do. If he has some deep seated personal objection to something, he won't do it. Period. If he has had a horrible, life changing day and just wants to lay down and stare at a ceiling, you will not get him to go to the movies with you no matter what you bribe him with. And no amount of chocolate will get him to talk about his problems unless you're REALLY fucking special.
    Now, this isn't usually the most helpful trait to have as it directly contradicts almost everything in the Virtues section. If he doesn't want to be calm, he'll be a raging lunatic. If you're bigger, better, faster, stronger than him and tell him to go shoot up a school or he's going to get pounded into the cement, he will be pounded into the cement. And if you somehow manage to get him to promise to go skydiving without a parachute with you next Sunday, he's going to be a very dead Sylv come the next week.

    Creature of Habit - Sylv...doesn't like change. He is a creature of comfort and does not like to be out of his comfort zone. If his surroundings change too drastically, or people throw a curve ball at him, he's a little bit of a basket case – though you likely won't see it (See: Stay Away From Me). It throws him out of whack and prevents him from comfortably going into his auto-pilot mode. Routine is important to him. Put a kink in his routine, and he won't quite know what to do with himself until his routine is put back into proper order. I am not calling this OCD. I do not think he has OCD. I think that he's found a way to handle things that is 'safe' to him and he's terrified of not having the net of autopilot.Unfortunately, that means if you study him, it's pretty easy to figure out his patterns.This doesn't mean he never changes or his routine is always, always the same. Change can be introduced slowly to his routine and minor tweaks won't do much to set off his alarms. But this takes time - and sometimes someone just doesn't have time.

    Stay Away From Me - While Sylvan does really enjoy you as a friend, please do not get too personal. He doesn't like talking about things. He has a very reliable and safe internalization process that is predictable and helpful. He can disconnect and disassociate himself very easily from just about anyone, even his sisters or his best friend. Simply put, Sylv withdraws. A lot. And as a result, it's hard to maintain relationships a lot of the time because it's seen as him not really giving a shit. He does give a shit – he probably gives three tons of shit – but that doesn't mean he's going to open up and spill his personal details to you or tell you why he just spent five hours in the bathroom crying. It's nothing personal, dude. Just. Don't ask and you'll be cool, kay? Kay.
    Being transgender has propagated this more than anything else. He never felt he belonged anywhere. After the age where boys discovered girls had cooties and no longer wanted him around, he never quite felt right. Girls made him uncomfortable because he was supposed to be like them, and wasn't. They thought he was weird and generally didn't find his company appealing. With no real 'group' to belong to, Sylvan was generally rejected a lot as a child.
    Those he did manage to get close to before his coming out didn't stick around afterward. The reactions from his family were hard enough without losing everyone else to something he couldn't help. He does not like to get emotionally attached. And if he is emotionally attached, it's easier to become unattached this way. If you're not in his personal life, you can't destroy him. Another coping mechanism that he has found to work for him - even if it isn't exactly healthy. It's moreso now than it was before since Kaedin's disappearance.


    Hobbies

    Cooking - Being Italian, cooking and the kitchen is a very intregal part of Sylvan's life. Cooking with his mother began when he was five years old (All three siblings were given specific jobs in the kitchen to help prepare meals) and continued until he graduated and moved out of his house. He hasn't branched out into anything that isn't Italian cuisine just yet, and he doubts that it will ever be a career move for him, but he certainly does feel at peace when whisking up some concoction.

    Drama - Sylv's love. The stage, the costumes, and pretending to be someone else and loosing yourself to a wonderful story fills him with joy. The applause from the audience at the end doesn't hurt things, either. He's good at it, too, considering he had to do so for a rather large majority of his life. The entire pretending thing, that is. Being able to immerse himself into someone else's shoes for a moment is a nice release.

    Language - While Sylvan only speaks Italian and English, language itself fascinates him. He has a goal to learn at least one other language to add to his list and has yet to decide between German and French. He loves etymology and often studies books on language in his free time. Deconstructing concepts is always fun.

    Notes:
    Sylvan is Transgender. He has a female body, but is in the middle of transitioning. He has been on hormones since he was 15 years old. As such, he has a deeper voice, a boyish physique, a more masculine face, and it's very hard to tell he's anything other than a biological boy unless you pull his pants and underwear down. He binds his (rather small) breasts very convincingly. Even if you touch his chest, you're not going to feel them. Pretty much, unless he tells you (Which he won't) or you get in his pants (Not an easy feat) you're not going to know. He passes. Very well. Please do not have your character suddenly know that he's physically a female. I will end the RP immediately.
