  HISTORY: On a standard reconnaissance mission with his commanding officer, in what would be one of the last battles in the long Autobot/Decepticon war, a fatal technical glitch within their ship caused it's engines to cease functioning. In a desperate attempt to save as many lives as possible, Nightingale's C.O. commanding them to enter the escape pod while he would stay aboard and try to steer the ship away from their fellow Autobots. Both knew the objective would result in their C.O.'s demise, and Nightingale broke protocol, begging in vain for their C.O. to board the other escape pod.
  
  Alas, it was to no avail. As Nightengale entered the pod and was placed in cryogenic slumber, their last thoughts were full of regret... for feeling they had failed their C.O., their people, and their cause, and... for never telling their C.O. precisely how far their feelings had gone for him. he inner workings of their chassis ached painfully... and then all was darkness....
  
  When Nightengale awoke, it was to the frantic klaxon of their escape pod. They opened their optical sensors to witness themselves rocketing to the surface of an unknown planet... Earth.
  
  The pod crash-landed in the midst of the Louisinna swamp about 10 clicks away from the city of New Orleans, but the sight of the 'comet' (as was reported by the human's source of public information) streaking across the sky aroused the interest of the New Orleans Police Department, along with a much higher office... the FBI.
  
  Long-story short, Nightengale was cleared after they heard that other Autobots had landed upon Earth as well, and gained the favor of the native sentient race. A peace agreement was made, and Nightengale exchanged a continual source of fuel, energy, safety, and access to whatever Autobot or Decepticon intel available... for guarding the people of Earth and scouring the globe for long-lost artifacts and slumbering 'bots forgotten by time and man.
