  Merchant Spencer Rubaeus is a professional jeweler, master appraiser, and an extremely charismatic individual, with as much experience as you would expect from an elderly man such as he. His charm and wit are a lovely accent to his otherwise gentle and calm demeanor.

  The jeweler doesn't seem to be anything more than an aged craftsman. Though his posture still retains the power of youth, it is quite obvious that it is the only thing that had been retained, as he is forced to walk with the aid of an ivory cane.
  
  Age has taken much from him, but not his appearance: like fine wine, he has aged well. Rubaeus is handsome, with a strong jaw, high cheekbones, and a rather regal nose. He's tall and thin, though not emaciated or infirm by any means. Wrinkles are, yes, commonplace, but they tell the tale of a man who smiles to strangers. His thin flesh is very pale, translucent in places, giving view of a network of veins. Paler than his skin, but only by a shade, is his thinning silvered hair, which is always combed back, yet not slicked down. His eyes are hooded by heavy lids, tired and shadowed, but lively eyes shine beneath, a crisp red in color. One may think him an albino by such an appearance.
  
  The elder wears, on the bridge of his nose, an intricately designed pair of rose-tinted spectacles. He is never seen without them.
  
  His clothes are elegant, and quite usually in colors that seem to match his appearance: trousers, pointed-toe shoes, tunic, vest and neck-cloth, all in white, pale rose, wine-red, and black. Buttons are engraved silver, or pearlescent opal. Embroidered are the clothes, knitted and stitched with simple design. These clothes are all kept clean and well-tailored, and never is he wearing something that seems ill-fitting or out-of-shape.
  
  Rubaeus seems to be a respectful individual. He has been described as fatherly, fair and honorable.

  Rose-Tinted Glasses
  When the beholder puts on these glasses, it applies a glamour to the beholder, effectively hiding it from normal eyes, replacing it the image of Spencer Rubaeus. When the glasses are removed, Spencer Rubaeus is no more, and the Beholder is revealed immediately. The glasses are indestructible, but can be stolen and lost.
  
  Behavior
  The Beholder is a manipulative personality, and while in human guise, changes the way he acts depending on whom he speaks to. At his core, he is chaotic and semi-sadistic, clever, scathingly ruthless and paranoid; Rubaeus prefers to cause trouble on personal levels for individuals, however, instead of large-scale catastrophes. He has eight behaviors he switches between. These are not different personalities. They're merely faces or aires that he uses when interacting with others, so as to charm and manipulate them easier. He's done this for quite a while, and knows well enough to keep his story straight between each individual he interacts with. The eight can be summed up in a few words each: the caring father, the experienced elder, the infirm invalid, the enthusiastic salesman, the friendly socialite, the story-teller, the talkative craftsman, and the sadistic original.
  
  The Eyes of the Beholder
  With the glasses on, quite the opposite as expected, Ezorax's natural sight is limited, halved to still superhuman means, but the beholder feels blinded. Without the glasses on, however, his site flourishes beyond mortal means. Beholders have the gift of sight that can't be blinded or impeded by walls, can't be limited by distance, and they can see in any light. Their truesight can see through any illusion, detect any aura, magic or astral signature, and identify items, translate written languages and symbols. The only thing they need to know is where to look, and beholders can see eight things at once: eight eyes, eight fields of vision.
  
  The Beholder's Stare
  If you lock eyes with any of the Beholder's eyes (while it does not have the glasses on, of course), there's an effect. Each of the eight eyes have a different effect, but it's impossible to tell the difference. An eight-sided dice is rolled to decide which eye is glanced at. The effects are nausea, blindness, fear, hysteria, paralyzation, beserking, hallucination, and suggestion.
  
  Weaknesses
  Other than the sight and stare, the beholder is fairly helpless. It's a frail beast, capable of only swiftness and agility to escape or evade. Bones can be broken, eyes can be stabbed or cut off. Poisons will effect the beholder in strange ways, and mirrors can be convenient if you need to thwart its stare. Some wards will prevent the beholder from seeing things. The beholder isn't immune to magic or any element. The only thing Rubaeus can do to prevent himself from being trapped, bound or killed, is shunting himself back to Taloremmeg (which can only happen once every eight days).
