Why?: The last time he saw his parents was when he was 27, the day he died. They told him that he has to be in an arranged marriage in order to be their son. The woman that they were arranging him with was a snob, and looked a lot older than him, which she wasn't. So he left the place, announcing that he was no longer their son and overreacted, by getting extremely lightheaded and dizzy that he fell off a cliff by accident.

Backstory:
As a kid, he was extremely bright and fun-loving because his parents allowed him to since they knew that he should be a kid for awhile. A lot of questions were asked by him and was curious, always asking why. Later on in life, he'd be able to figure out the answer to a majority of his questions. Becoming more and more observant every single day. Once he was growing up a bit more, learning became more important than having fun. So he tried having a loophole to this. Reading books and writing stories became fun for him, and it became a loophole to slaving away in textbooks and numbers.
This continued on and on, but he did get a few love letters from a couple of girls. He was forced to turn them all down, and one of them was his best friend. He considered going rogue on his parents and date a girl he really liked, wait no, loved without them knowing. But he couldn't bring himself to do it, so he wrote short stories about how he "Gets the Girl!" Or other funny scenes of them being a couple. One day, he couldn't find where all his stories about them both were, and became a bit upset about 'losing' them, but his mother just threw it away in recycling bin. He also, thought that one of his parents threw it away, only to find the bin empty. His mother later on confronted him with the truth and told him that he'll have to be learning more about certain academics and stick to learning it. And not doing anything else.
Finally! A free day for him. His parents let him go out and take a break from studying for a whole entire day without question. It was a bit suspicious, but he took up on the offer and visited a few places, and seeing some people he recognized.
This was just their plan to get him into a good mood. They really needed it.
Once the week was over, his parents told them that they had arranged a marriage for him. They introduced the woman and let them get to know each other a little bit by leaving them in an empty room. A conversation started and she replied with answers that were so.. Idiotic. "I let my butler brush my teeth ya know." Or "Eww. Giving away my stuff? No way." It was aggravating and it turns out that her personality did not make up for her appearance at all, so he felt opposed to marrying her at all. His parents threatened to disown him if he doesn't marry her for a very long time. He loudly shouted, saying that he agreed to not be their son anymore and ran out the house while looking back at the front door, causing him to slam into a metal rake outside the house. He became extremely lightheaded and dizzy, but he still ran.
That was a bad choice.
He ended up tripping over something that made him fall to his death. Down and down he went, off the cliff. Instant Death. There wasn't anytime to go through shock or pain. He just died a restless soul. Somehow, when he awoken, people with white wings stared at him. "So he's another new guy." One Angel said. Raye blinked and looked at his arms and legs. "Where am I..?" His voice was a bit hoarse, probably from the fall. The Angels laughed and the shortest out of all of them said: "You're in Heaven. Cheer up buddy." Raye was skeptical. To him, he never really believed in Heaven or Hell, it was nonexistent in his mind. That was not a logical answer for him to take.
"Am I being punk'd? There's no such thing as He-" Raye was cut off when one of the Angel blasted him with a beam of bright light. Pain from his back was excruciating, but wings as white as snow had appeared on his back. They were a bit too big for him and the Angel who shot him apologized. Raye started believing in Heaven again as he smiled. "What do I do now?" He asked, excitement was rising in his voice.
"Well, now we wait. We're going to do another check on you to see if you're supposed to belong here. But don't worry, you're doing fine. I'm sure there's no problem." One of them replied.
Raye walked around, exploring heaven, but after 3 days, something happened too soon for him to process. The Angels that first greeted him into heaven asked for him to stand over towards the gate. They kept on coming close to him, and their appearance was a bit intimidating, so he kept on stepping back towards the open gate. One thing led to another, which caused him to be pushed down to the depths of hell. His wings passed through a barrier and he had no idea about how to fly yet. A joke arisen in his mind and he thought: I could be the next Lucifer! But there wasn't a lot of time to joke around. He saw his wings change from white to black, as if it was a virus spreading. Then there it was, the sudden thud to the ground that he survived from. Demons took him, and murmured about how the Angels made a mistake. He was put into a tank that was almost as hot as lava, but he didn't burn. He couldn't burn. He was already dead. Raye refused to scream and give them want they want, so they started poking him with sharp object and he tolerated all of it. They became unamused and thought the Devil should deal with him, but taking a break to go greet another was to be soon. Winston swam and made it up to the tank, only to have the sound of people screaming and asking for mercy. It was so hot in there. Then something seemed to swoop at him pull him behind another tank left unattended with a person who seemed like they were sleeping.
"I saw that you didn't scream when they tortured you. Let's make a deal? Okay?"
"What is it..?"
"There a small blue Jewel hidden under the Devil's doorway. If you get it for me. I'll grant you my powers, so you can live again, and that I can be human."
"Will you stay true to your deal?"
"Yes. I need to."
Raye had came up with a plan and decided to just go back into the boiling water, reluctantly. At least he did it. The demons came back after a long 12 minutes and pulled him out of the water. They dragged him towards the hallway of the Devil's place and told him to wait. After they had left, he ran towards the doorway and lifted up a panel that had shown a blue jewel and took it quickly. The Devil had heard this racket and had opened the door to see the panel open without a jewel and that Raye was long gone. He had rushed to the place where he saw the hooded figure and it grabbed him quickly as it flew straight through the barrier. The Jewel glowed and became a bit smaller in his hands as they went through a barrier that caused his dark brown hair and eyes to turn blue. A turquoise type of color. They just went pass heaven and escaped through hell. And straight to the mortal realm. Earth was there. They landed in a large secluded area, where the hooded figure would keep their promise.
"You're such a troublesome soul, you know that?"
"I might've been told. Now about our deal?"
"Don't worry. I'm doing it." The hooded figure took off his cloak, and a demonic looking creature with a sickle was shown.
"You're a Grim Reaper..?"
"Yes. First, I'll have to teach you how to use your wings before lending you a few things."
"Please!"
The Reaper started explain the basics of using wings, flying types, and acting on instincts quickly. At first he was getting the hang of it, then he said a comment about being a flightless bird, which made his progress stoop lower. Later on he regained confidence and became a very excellent flyer and lander.
So, the Grim Reaper sighed, and was a bit heartbroken to be leaving him. But, as the deal was made, it was kept till the very end.
"I want to give you a small gift that may help you greatly.. Remember, you're still a human angel thing. Hah, I don't even know what I'm saying. To stay alive, you're going to have to reap souls until the day you die, and the humans that try to escape death will have to be killed by you. Tonight, you'll have visions about people dying 25 miles away from you as you walk the streets. A mental list will not block your vision, but it will stay stuck in your consciousness. Hunt them down if they escape our jaws of death and turn their souls into a dove. You can do whatever you like after that. It's a specialty I have, that can be used on occasions."
"That's a lot of pressure, but I'll do it just for you to become human again. I literally owe you my life."
"Thank you. But I'll be giving you a gift. The ability to send people into stories that they're reading. And the book will turn into a screen where you can talk and communicate with them. Only you can let them out, but don't worry. Anything that happens to them, doesn't really happen in real life. So if one of them are dead, they'll just have to wait till you let them out and they'll be alive again." The Reaper got out the blue jewel and clutched it tightly.
A blue beam of light hit him, and this time, there wasn't any pain. Just the feeling of something cold surrounding his body and then enters pass his skin quickly.
A thin blue necklace is what's left of the jewel, and the now human Grim Reaped put it around Raye's neck and smiled. A cheerful one. His wings appeared to be smaller and easier to retract, when he put on a regular shirt. A bulge that signaled wings were hiding behind his back was gone, and when he took it he necklace off, they grew back to it's normal size.
"During our campfire talks, I hope you remember how to trigger my abilities and reap souls properly. My goodbye speech is just a recap. Let's part ways."

Raye flew away and the now human reaper watched him.
Later on, Raye obtained an false identity, and lives a decent place.
