• Biography

  Living in the Anderfels, darkspawn are a constant threat, something all Anders must keep in mind. Unfortunately for two young elves, the danger of the tainted creatures slipped their minds as they played in the outskirts of their hometown, Nordbotten. Having lost their parents to disease at a young age, the two looked out for eachother, and did everything together. As the fourteen year old twins were playing, a foul hurlock came upon the two. Her brother, Daine, was struck from behind. Using her magic that she'd hidden from all but her brother, she felled the hurlock. Daine wasn't injured fatally, and she worked to use her healing magic upon the ghastly wound. It was then that she realized that the worst thing that could have happened... did. The darkspawn taint was in her brother's blood. Her connection opened to the fate, she heard whispers swirling through her mind, offers of forbidden knowledge to save her precious brother. She accepted that knowledge without a second thought, unable to watch as her brother's condition worsened, despite her attempts to heal him. With the knowledge of blood magic in her mind, she took the dagger at her boot and brought it across her arm, using her blood to fuel the spell to draw the taint out of Daine, and into herself. Daine knew what she did, and hugged her desperately as the deed was done. She knew his fears of battle and of bloodshed, and knew that he would have had no place with the Grey Wardens. It was then that she and her brother parted ways, for they both knew Weisshaupt was now her only chance for survival.
  
  Deirdra was intercepted by Grey Wardens during her hurried walk to Weisshaupt, and they helped her get there as quickly as possible. She survived the Joining; one of the youngest to do so. Deirdra and Daine correspond through letters often, and she often sends him coin to help him along. She doesn't get to visit him often, but the distance hasn't diminished their care for eachother. Even with the circumstance that placed her there, she came to love the order. She felt a sense of purpose and belonging, and was in no danger from the Templars hunting her down for her use of blood magic. The Grey Wardens didn't turn any away, even malificar. She knew she was safe.

• Personality

  A shy and introverted woman, she keeps to herself. She rarely speaks, completing her duties without a word. She is hard to crack open and figure out, and even amongst the thousands of wardens at Weisshaupt, she finds ways to remain alone. She watches and staunchly protects her comrades with silent strength. Even though she often keeps to herself, she cares for her fellow wardens immensely. Those who have fought beside her know of her blood magic, but as is known amongst the wardens; none are turned away.
