  name Glorian. apparent age Youthful - late teens to early twenties, one can't be sure of anything in a glance but for the fact that he must be relatively young. gender Male. orientation Never discussed, though Glorian's sexual preference isn't a source of great mystery for those with an eye for detail, as he can often be seen engaging in suspect behavior with all genders. occupational background Though now a thief and a con, Glorian was once a prolific composer and wealthy chancellor in the House Basile of San Namina, Catolia. In his short tumble to indigence he was framed for treason, cast from the House and subsequently exiled from his home. His days now are mostly spent traveling, and taking up odd jobs wherever possible or desirable, whilst sustaining himself on dwindling wealth. species / breed Avian humanoid; Serinus flaviventris height 5'7" weight 130lbs, roughly. build Glorian's body is largely human in appearance, from his head to his toes with few distinguishing qualities in between, but for the very obvious. Mainly due to a pneumatized skeletal structure that is adaptive to flight, lightweight but flexible and resilient, Glorian appears rather delicate and weighs little. An androgynous frame with the muscle tone of someone who spends the majority of his time thinking, rather than doing -- or doing very little where possible. That's not to say that GLorian is lazy. He just... prefers to keep his hands clean. hair Blond, almost platinum with darker golden roots, and full of heavy, floppy curls and waves. It used to be immaculately tended, but now hangs disheveled with length enough to reach his shoulders. skin Very fair-skinned, Glorian can often be found with sunburn on his cheeks and shoulders. The "t-zone" of his face as well as his shoulders are smattered with cinnamon-colored freckles. His skin, in general, is free of scars but for a small number of mundane nicks acquired over the years.

  eyes Warm golden brown. Sharp and unclouded, with dense eyelashes that match the color of his hair -- or at least, the roots of it. Waterline is often lined in black or other colors if he can get his hands on it. wings From one wingtip to the other, Glorian's wings are about half as wide as he is tall, give or take a few inches. In color, they are a vibrant gold, while the scapulars and alulae are white, and the coverts a lighter white-gold, a color close to cream. They are capable of gliding short distances from the appropriate heights, but can't lift his body from the ground. attire In his days as chancellor, Glorian possessed finances enough to have his clothing tailored to accommodate his wings. These days he is lucky to find decent rags that can be altered to fit him, as well as the bulk of his wings. His main attire consists of bits and pieces of fabrics and materials -- leathers, lace, linen, silk -- that have been stitched together over time to form what seems to be a growing, elaborate piece of costumery that frees the wings in the back. The outfit is always being added to, and taken away from. accessories / decorations Bangles -- several thin brass bangles, and a few shaped ruby bangles, worn around the right wrist and both ankles. A vast array of stolen jewels litter him: trinkets, earrings, necklaces, brooches, hairpins; he practically bathes in the spoils of his travels, a bit kitsch. His toenails are most often painted red, and occasionally, his eyelids and cheeks are smeared with color. More often than not slung across his back is a very old viola. talents / skillsSinging, fencing, sneaking, lockpicking, jewelcrafting, navigation, a superb eye for fashion, appraising, persuasion, poisonmaking, herbology, viola. weaponry A pair of heavily bejeweled daggers, together infamously known as "Queensblood" and identified by their elaborate construction and gemwork, and ornate, golden dragon's head pommels.   Past.

  Very little is known of Glorian, or where he came from or how he got there. At a tender age, he was sold to a band of gypsies by his father, a human coal miner, who intended to pay off a gambling debt with the money earned. The gypsies raised him wild and cunning, and when they were all arrested for Witchcraft on Catolian soil, the royal authorities had mercy on Glorian for his young age.
  
  Glorian was given to the servants of the duchy palace to train. They taught him to cook, clean, sew, and most importantly: behave. He made great strides, and quickly became a favorite within the palace for his quick wit and charm. During this time, the country was without a queen, and Glorian was just coming of age as duchess Allegria Lenné Basile was crowned queen in place of her deceased aunt. Allegria took to the very young Glorian - he not yet ten years of age, and herself thirty-two - and raised him as her own, pitying him as an orphan, a destitute child, and infatuated with his golden hair and wings. She taught him the art of music, and he quickly grew fascinated with the viola.
  
  The years passed peacefully. The land was free of war under the wing of Queen Allegria, and her people revered her. Her adopted son, Glorian, seemed to grow strong and vigorous until he came of age at sixteen years; he seemed to hit a boundary then, and grew no more. She appointed Glorian chancellor of her court, and he exhibited a proficient ability to head and coordinate governmental affairs. He was lauded for his musical talents, and soon became an avid composer. His success grew when he intercepted several separate attempts to lift a royal treasure from the palace: two ornate daggers, with golden dragon's head pommels.
  
  But Queen Allegria was falling to corruption, or mad blood, or both. It began as a sharp tongue, unlike the gentle words that had garnered her favor with the people of her country. She began to abuse those beneath her, first her servants, and then Glorian. She tormented the then twenty-one-year-old canary -- plucked his wings, shaved his curls, stretched his bones. Her short-lived reign of torment over the palace ended within the year, when she was found in her chambers cut ear-to-ear. All eyes turned to Glorian for answers, and he would give none -- he had none to give.
  
  It was as though the Primes had lain down a great puzzle and the last piece lay in Glorian's quarters: the royal treasure, hilted and tucked neatly between goosedown matresses. There was no question that Glorian had murdered his queen. At his trial, only one spoke out: the leper advisor to Queen Allegria, who attested to her cruelties. When they would not listen, Glorian was imprisoned to hang the next morning. The leper, obscured in silks as black as night, met Glorian in the shadows and together, they ran -- but not before retrieving the royal daggers. They were called "Queensblood", and with ambiguous pride, the leper and the canary fled the country.

  
  
  

  Present.

  Together, the pair relearned the ways of the dark alleys, the ways of thieves and murderers and thugs. Glorian found that the leper was far more versed in these things than he, and the leper passed on all the knowledge that he could: how to cripple with poisons, how to pick the sturdiest lock, how to blend with the shadows so that not even the animals can see you.
  
  They have been traveling for more years than either of them care to count, now. Vagabonds; gypsies, the both of them, compelled by the promise of riches anywhere they turn -- and an ever present paranoia at their heels.

  This man has been Glorian's closest friend since Glorian himself was exiled years ago. An adviser in the House Basile himself, this man fled the country with Glorian in search of bigger, better things. The man is a reformed criminal, and so has had quite a while to polish up under the thumb of royalty, but never forgot the tricks of the trade. Most of what Glorian knows now, he learned from this man.
  
  Here are a few requirements of the role:
  
  1.) The character is a leper.
  2.) He is Rrussian/Russian born, and immigrated to Catolia/Italy as a boy.
  3.) He is a reformed criminal. Born into poverty, he had little chance to strive for a better life with no money to relocate and no way to extract himself from a slum environment of thugs, gangs, gamblers, thieves, drunkards, assassins, and corrupt small-time politicians. He was placed under arrest by the Queen during a jewel heist, and the knowledge that he was a leper caused her to reconsider and place him under her custody as a servant. She soon began to trust him and stationed him by her side at all times as an advisor.
  4.) He is not a modern character.
  5.) You must be a semi- to fairly-active, literate paragraph-RPer. You must also be a willing and fluent communicator and brainstormer. If you think you'll want to drop the role a few weeks in or have a habit of abandoning characters shortly after you make them, this is probably not the role for you. I'm all for a trial and error process -- play the character a few times to decide if you like him, and if you don't, then resign from the role and give me a chance to look for someone else to play it -- but don't leave me hanging.
  
  These things aside, you can make him look how you want, behave how you want (sans a few staple character traits that will be discussed), whatever. You choose the name, as well, but it must be something relevant and sensible.
