  Born as a bit of an odd child, Iris stood out from many as a child. She was the daughter of well-known Leader of the Magic Crafters, Cosmos, and her Kirin mother, only known as Syne. Her mother fled the land of Magic Crafters during the tyranny of Gnasty Gnorc. Her father waited for her return each day, however she was never seen again. She'd left behind only her egg, white with flecks of different colors. The day she hatched, her father knew she was different from any dragon before her... if he indeed could call her that. Her scales shone brilliantly in the sunlight, both over scales of black like her mother, and underbelly scales of rainbow like her father. Two tiny wings poked out, but not of any dragon form. They matched her mother's feathery wings, and were white as snow. Fur down her neck, to her back, and to the tip of her tail where her spines should have been, also white as snow. A tuft of hair sat upon her head, matching her wings and fur spines in color. Tiny cream horns and tiny cream claws poked out from her hair and feet. Her father realized that she had been born neither Kirin nor Dragon. He'd never heard of such a creature being born before. Thus, the species Dragirin came to be. He named her Iris, as her rainbow scales mimicked his quite nicely.
